Manufactured by Italian manufacturer Polti, the Cimex Eradicator is a superheated commercial steamer that kills bed bugs and eggs using water instead of chemicals. It is one of the hottest steamers on the market, reaching up to a dry steam of 180°C (356°F). By using the combination of steam and HPMed detergent, Cimex Eradicator eliminates the familiar smell of bed bugs and melts the gluey substance which they use to bind their eggs to surfaces.

The steamer comes with the added benefit that the treated area can be used immediately and does not need to be ventilated for hours as needed with chemicals. Cimex Eradicator comes with a water capacity of 2 liters for the ability of extended usage of 1-2 hours. The Cimex Eradicator comes with an accessory kit which contains: a treatment guide, user manual, demonstration DVD, protective gloves, two steam concentration tubes, a brass cleaning brush and two bottles of HPMed.

Tools Needed

No tools are needed for operation but we recommend wearing gloves such as our Black Maxx latex gloves for skin protection. You may also want a flashlight for the purpose of inspection for bed bugs.

How to Use

Step 1: Inspect for bed bugs, one room at a time removing linens as you go. In the bedroom, check the edges and folds of your mattress and box spring, check the edges and cracks in the frame, behind picture frames, curtains, and electrical outlets. In the living room, check curtains and any upholstered furniture.  Wash all removed linens in hot water to kill any bugs on them.

Step 2: Unscrew the safety cap and add 2 liters of water to the steamer and power it on so it can heat up, which takes about 12 minutes. During heat-up, insert the steam hose and gun into the built-in socket. This is also a good time to add HPMed by screwing it on the designated area on the steam gun. When the "steam ready" indicator light comes on, it's ready for use.

Step 3: Apply steam using continuous, even strokes covering all surface areas. When treating a mattress and box spring, remember to cover all sides and folds. On furniture, focus your steaming in corners, underneath furniture, and around wheels if present. For steam treating tight spaces, attach either of the two steam concentration tubes.

When to Use

Use the Cimex Eradicator when you have a bed bug infestation or when dust mites are present and you do not wish to use pesticide chemicals.

Safety Information

Do not direct steam at people or electrical equipment to prevent harm or damage. Before storing steamer make sure it has cooled down completely to prevent harm to yourself and damage to the unit. Wear the necessary protective gloves when conducting steam treatment.

Special Considerations

Do not use 100% distilled water or bottled spring water but always mix with 50% tap water, this will prevent limescale build-up inside the steamer.
