Mecomec 4 Turf Herbicide
Mecomec 4 Turf Herbicide is a specialty selective herbicide that delivers fast control over broadleaf weeds in golf courses and fine turfgrass areas such as closely mowed turf.
04/23/26
Mecomec 4 Turf Herbicide, manufactured by PBI Gordon, is a powerful, professional-grade weed killer that delivers fast, reliable broadleaf weed control in fine turfgrass sites perfect for keeping home lawns and golf courses pristine.
This selective, post-emergent herbicide contains mecoprop-p (MCCP) at 22.53%, which works by mimicking natural plant hormones, causing uncontrolled growth in broadleaf weeds that leads to their death. It’s effective because it targets weeds such as clover, chickweed, and more without harming most turfgrasses, making it ideal for maintaining clean, healthy turf.
Mecomec 4 Turf Herbicide is a high turf safety post-emergent herbicide that was uniquely designed not to injure delicate turf even under tight mowing heights. If you want precise, reliable broadleaf weed control in high-value turf areas, Mecomec 4 deserves a place in your spray program.
Tools Needed
A handheld pump sprayer, backpack sprayer, or spray rig can be used.
How to Use

- Step 1: Determine how much Mecomec 4 Turf Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiplying them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). For broadcast applications on established grasses such as fairways and home lawns, use 1.25 fl. oz. of Mecomec 4 Turf Herbicide per 0.5 to 4.0 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. To make spot treatments on established grasses such as fairways and home lawns, apply 1.25 to 2.0 fl. oz. of product per 0.5 to 4.0 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. For broadcast applications and spot treatments on established greens, use 1.0 fl. oz. of product per 0.5 to 4.0 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft.
- Step 2: Fill the sprayer tank with half the amount of water, add the proper amount of product, and then pour in the remaining half of the water. Close the tank lid and shake until well-mixed.
- Step 3: Spray the top and bottom of weed leaves until wet, but not to the point of runoff. Do not make a second application until 30 days after the first treatment. Do not water grass for at least 24 hours after application. The maximum application rate for spot treatments is 2.0 fl. oz. per 1,000 sq.ft. per application. The maximum number of spot treatments is limited to 2 per year.
Where to Use
Mecomec 4 Turf Herbicide can be used on established grasses such as fairways and home lawns. It is not recommended for St. Augustinegrass and centipedegrass.
It may be used on ornamental turfgrass including creeping bentgrass and Kentucky bluegrass.
When to Use
Make applications on a warm, calm day when weeds are growing vigorously.
For best results, this product should be applied when weeds are most vulnerable and turf conditions are favorable to avoid grass injury. Drought-stressed weeds are more resistant to treatment, while fine turfgrasses become more sensitive to the herbicide - especially when temperatures rise above 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
Do not cut or mow grass 2 to 3 days before or after treatment so that maximum uptake and translocation can occur.
Safety Information
Mecomec 4 Turf Herbicide is safe for people and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Do not enter or allow people (or pets) to enter the treated area until sprays have dried.
Special Considerations
Do not use Mecomec 4 Turf Herbicide on newly sown lawns or turf for six months after planting.
Do not use this product on or near desirable plants, including contact of spray on exposed root systems or adventitious shoots within the drip line of desirable trees and shrubs, since injury may result.
