Lebanon Treflan 5G HDG Herbicide, manufactured by Lebanon, is a effective granular pre-emergent herbicide that prevents certain annual grasses and broadleaf weeds in container and landscape ornamentals and non-cropland for up to 3 months.

Made from top-grade active ingredients such as trifluralin 5.0%, which safely creates a chemical barrier in soil to prevent weeds from sprouting in ornamentals and around trees.

Lebanon Treflan 5G HDG Herbicide maximizes weed control with a single application resulting in lesser troublesome weed growth like chickweed and helping to increase aesthetic appearance of trees and other desired foliage.

Tools Needed

To apply Lebanon Treflan 5G HDG Herbicide, you will need a drop spreader or rotary-type spreader. When using a drop-type spreader, a splash board mounted under the hopper will provide more even granule distribution. For treating smaller areas or rows of nursery stock or ornamental beds, a hand held or push-type rotary applicator such as whirlybird or cyclone unit is recommended.

Do not use spreaders that apply material in narrow concentrated bands.

How to Use

  • Step 1: Determine how much Lebanon Treflan 5G HDG Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). Apply 1.8 lbs. of Lebanon Treflan 5G HDG Herbicide per 1,000 sq. ft. or 80 lbs. of product per acre. Do not apply over 240 lbs. per acre total of this product within a 12-month period.
  • Step 2: Calibrate spreaders to the right setting as instructed on the product label or the specific models manual. Load the measured amount of Lebanon Treflan 5G HDG Herbicide into the spreader.
  • Step 3: Broadcast half of the Lebanon Treflan 5G HDG Herbicide over the area and then apply the remaining half in swaths at right angles to the first. Within 24 hours of application, move the product into the soil either by at least 0.5 acre inches of water (rainfall, irrigation) or mechanical incorporation. If a second incorporation is needed it should be delayed 3 to 5 days after the first incorporation and be completed prior to planting. Repeat applications should not be made sooner than 60 days after a previous application of this product.

Where to Use

Lebanon Treflan 5G HDG Herbicide can be used on the soil of container grown ornamentals, landscape ornamentals, nursery stock, ground covers, established flowers, ornamental bulbs, non-bearing fruit and nut trees, non-bearing vineyards in ornamental landscaping only, and non-cropland.

Do not apply to pots less than four inches wide or in greenhouse or other enclosed structures.

When to Use

Apply Lebanon Treflan 5G HDG Herbicide before or after planting but prior to germination of target weeds, or immediately after cultivation.

Apply to the soil surface 2 to 4 weeks after planting ornamental bulbs, but prior to the emergence of annual weeds. This product may also be applied following bulb emergence. For fall planted bulbs, apply this product again in later winter or early spring to weed-free soil surfaces.

Do not apply to newly transplanted ornamentals, nursery stock, ground covers, flowers and non-bearing fruit and nut crops and non-bearing vineyards in ornamental landscaping until soil or potting media has been settled by packing and irrigation or rainfall and no cracks are present or injury may occur.

Safety Information

Lebanon Treflan 5G HDG Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when applying this product.

Do not allow people or pets enter the treated area until dusts have settled. If soil incorporation is required after the application, do not allow people and pets to enter the treated area (except those persons involved in the incorporation) until the incorporation is complete. If the incorporation is accomplished by watering-in, do not allow people or pets enter the treated area until the surface is dry after the watering-in.

Special Considerations

Do not make preplant applications of Lebanon Treflan 5G HDG Herbicide to areas where gladioli corms are less than one inch in diameter will be planted or injury may occur.
