11/27/25
Fertilome Weed-Out Plus Lawn Fertilizer 25-0-4, manufactured by VPG, is an excellent dual-action post-emergent herbicide and fertilizer combo that feeds warm-seasoned and cool-seasoned grass and kills broadleaf weeds at the same time.
On top of the fertilizing benefits, this granular product includes a powerful post-emergent 3-way herbicide blend, the same type of chemistry found in well-known products like Trimec. This is what targets and kills established weeds like dandelion, chickweed, poison ivy, and more down to the root.
Fertilome Weed-Out Plus Lawn Fertilizer 25-0-4 is a powerful, dual-action granular fertilizer and herbicide blend that gives home lawns the nutrition it craves while wiping out over 200 broadleaf weeds like spurge, henbit, clover, and more all in the same pass. If you’re ready to restore your lawn’s health, color, and strength while eliminating stubborn weeds, this product is one of the most effective, homeowner-friendly tools available.
Tools Needed
You will need a drop spreader or broadcast spreader.
How to Use
- Step 1: Mow the lawn to normal height 1 to 2 days before application. Water the lawn thoroughly at least 1 day before application to sustain moisture until the next watering. Determine how much Fertilome Weed-Out Plus Lawn Fertilizer 25-0-4 to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). Apply 3.2 to 4.0 pounds of Fertilome Weed-Out Plus Lawn Fertilizer 25-0-4 per 1,000 square feet of turfgrass. The maximum broadcast application rate is 4.0 pounds of product per 1,000 sq. ft. per application. The maximum number of broadcast applications is limited to 2 per year.
- Step 2: Adjust the spreader to the proper setting, then load the proper amount of granules.
- Step 3: Walk at a steady, comfortable pace, keeping consistent strides and overlapping each pass slightly so the granules spread evenly without gaps or heavy streaks. Do not wash from weed leaves for 1 to 2 days after application. At this time, a thorough watering should be made. After 30 days have passed from the first application, a second treatment can be made.
Where to Use
Fertilome Weed-Out Plus Lawn Fertilizer 25-0-4 can be used on St. Augustinegrass, Centipedegrass, Bahiagrass, Bermudagrass, Zoysiagrass, Bluegrass, Perennial Ryegrass, Fescue spp., and Bentgrass lawns.
Do not use on Dichondra. Do not use this product on “Floratam” St. Augustinegrass.
When to Use
Apply when weeds are young and actively growing, preferably in the morning when dew is on the grass. If the grass is not moist at the time of application, sprinkle lightly with water to hold the material and prevent dust drift onto nontarget plants.
Safety Information
Fertilome Weed-Out Plus Lawn Fertilizer 25-0-4 is safe for people and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling and applying this product.
Do not allow people or pets to enter the treated area until the dust has settled.
Special Considerations
Do not use this product on or near desirable plants, and avoid spreading granules onto exposed root systems or adventitious shoots (rhizomes) within the drip line of desirable trees and shrubs, since injury may result.
