Fertilome St. Augustine Weed & Feed 15-0-4, manufactured by VPG, is a specialized fertilizer and post-emergent herbicide combination that gives the grass the nutrition it needs while knocking back existing weeds and preventing new ones from popping up for weeks.

At its heart, this product is a specialized weed and feed granule formulated specifically for warm-season turf types like St. Augustine, Zoysia, Centipede and Carpetgrass. The label lists an N-P-K ratio of 15-0-4, meaning a significant nitrogen boost (15%) with no phosphorus and a little potassium (4%) plus added herbicide actives for pre-emergent and post-emergent weed control. The product also includes iron to darken turf color. The formulation aims to deliver both nutrition and weed control in a single, easy spread.

How to Use

• Step 1: Determine how much Fertilome St. Augustine Weed & Feed 15-0-4 to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). Apply 6.4 lbs. of Fertilome St. Augustine Weed & Feed 15-0-4 per 1,000 sq. ft. 
• Step 2: Adjust the spreader to the proper setting, then load the proper amount of granules. 
• Step 3: If soil is dry, water thoroughly the day before treatment. Treat the entire lawn evenly. Immediately after application, water to wash particles off the grass blades. Repeat in 2 months if needed.

Where to Use

Fertilome St. Augustine Weed & Feed 15-0-4 is for St. Augustine, Zoysia, Centipede, and Carpetgrass lawns only.

Do not make applications to St. Augustine, Zoysia, Centipede or Carpetgrass lawns containing other grasses.

When to Use

Make applications when weeds are present and when the turf is well-established.

Do not use on Centipede or Carpetgrass lawns during the period of Winter dormancy (approximately October 15 to March 15), except in Florida. 

Do not apply to newly seeded Zoysia, Centipede, or Carpetgrass lawns until after the new grass has been mowed at least twice.

Avoid applications when rainfall is expected within 24 hours of application.

Fertilome St. Augustine Weed & Feed 15-0-4 is safe for people and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling and applying this product.

Keep children and pets off treated areas until the material is washed into the soil.

Special Considerations

Broadcast applications must NOT be made using hand-held devices, such as a belly grinder or handheld rotary applicator. Such equipment may only be used for spot treatments.

Do not apply under the branch spread (root-zone) area of trees and shrubs in compact, slowly draining soils (particularly in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area).
