Dismiss South Herbicide
Dismiss South Herbicide
Dismiss South Herbicide is manufactured by FMC Professional Solutions and is a selective post-emergent broadleaf weed killer designed for Southern warm-season grasses. The formula in Dismiss South Herbicide is similar in effect to the original Dismiss Herbicide but delivers enhanced results against purple nutsedge in particular.
Dismiss South Herbicide not only attacks weeds on the surface, but also penetrates the soil to destroy sedge tubers. This helps to reduce the chances of future weed outbreaks and reduces the need for frequent reapplication.
Tools Needed
To apply Dismiss South Herbicide, you will need either a handheld pump sprayer, backpack sprayer, or spray rig. For small lawn jobs, we recommend a handheld 1-gallon pump sprayer or a 4-gallon backpack sprayer.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Dismiss South Herbicide you need by calculating the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure and multiply your lawn's length times width to get the total square footage to be treated (length x width = square footage). Dismiss should be mixed at a rate of 0.220 - 0.331 oz. per gallon of water to treat 1,000 sq. ft.
- Step 2: Fill your selected spray tank a 1/4th of the way with water and then add the appropriate amount of Dismiss Herbicide. Fill the sprayer the rest of the way with water and shake well and you are ready to spray.
- Step 3: Spray target weeds with Dismiss South Herbicide until wet but not to the point of runoff.
Where to Use
Dismiss South Herbicide is for use in and around warm-season grasses on Residential, Commercial and Institutional Lawns, Athletic Fields, Golf Course Fairways and Roughs, Railroad Rights-of-Way, Highway, Roadside, Pipeline and Utility Rights-of-Way, Industrial Areas, Fence Rows and Other Non-crop Sites.
When to Use
For best results, Dismiss South Herbicide should be applied in late summer, fall, or early spring to ensure adequate moisture for soil activation. Results are more effective when the weed is young and actively growing.
Safety Information
Dismiss South Herbicide is safe to apply around pets and children when used according to the label. Stay off the area after treatment and remain out of the treated areas until they have completely dried. Before applying this product, please make sure to put on the proper PPE for safety (long-sleeved clothing, gloves, face mask, goggles).
Special Considerations
Dismiss South should not be applied on St. Augustinegrass.

Q:Is Bermuda coastal grass safe when using this product ?5/24/22A:Dismiss South Herbicide application may cause temporary discoloration to exposed leaf surfaces on certain cultivars of zoysiagrass, bahiagrass, centipede and hybrid bermudagrass such as coastal bermudagrass. Treated turfgrass will recover with new growth. Discolored leaf tissue will be removed with mowing. To reduce potential for discoloration, do not apply Dismiss South Herbicide on turfgrass that is weakened by weather, mechanical, chemical, disease or other related stress.
