Daconil Action Fungicide is made by Syngenta and is a fungicide with a broad label that controls 15 common turf diseases including Dollar Spot, Leaf Spot, Brown Patch, Gray Leaf Spot, Anthracnose, Copper Spot, Stem Rust, Algae, Mold, Fusarium Patch, Bacterial Wilt and Pythium Blight among others.

Its active ingredient of 53.94% Chlorothalonil, which has served as a very effective broad-spectrum fungicide since 1966, kills most fungi and bacteria affecting your lawn while the .11% of Acibenzolar-S-methyl, boosts your turfgrasses natural defense system by activating the development of proteins capable of fighting off the fungi and bacterial diseases.

If you're managing a golf course or a professional athletic field, Daconil Action Fungicide is a must-have to keep your turf healthy and disease-free

Tools Needed

To use Daconil Action Fungicide you will need either a hose-end sprayer, handheld pump sprayer, backpack sprayer, or spray rig.

How to Use

  • Step 1: Determine how much Daconil Action Fungicide you need to apply by first calculating the square footage of the area you wish to treat. To do this, measure (in feet) and multiply the area length times the width (length x width = square footage). Use Daconil Action at a rate of 1.0 to 5.4 ounces per 1,000 square feet (rates vary depending on target disease). For a post-disease treatment mix Daconil Action at a rate of 2.0 to 5.4 fl. ounces per 1,000 square feet (rates vary depending on target disease).
  • Step 2: In a sprayer of your choice, fill the sprayer halfway with water and then add in the appropriate measured amount of Daconil Action Fungicide. Fill the sprayer the rest of the way with water and shake well, then you will be ready to spray.
  • Step 3: Spray the fungicide onto the leaf of the plant, placing the sprayer on a fan spray setting for even coverage.
  • Step 4: Follow-up applications should be from 7 to 10 days, to 7 to 21 days, to 14 days depending on severity. Do not apply more than 12.5 fluid ounces per 1,000 square feet, per growing season.

Where to Use

Daconil Action Fungicide is only for use in sod farms, turf on golf courses, professional and collegiate athletic fields, and lawns around commercial and industrial buildings.

Do not use on home lawns and turf sites associated with apartment buildings, daycare centers, playgrounds, playfields, recreational park athletic fields, athletic fields located on or next to schools (e.g., elementary, middle and high schools), campgrounds, churches, and theme parks.

When to Use

Use Daconil Action either preventatively once a year during the growing season or whenever you have noticed and identified a disease on your plants. Daconil Action should be applied to the turf before disease symptoms become severe or prior to disease development.
