Coretect Tree & Shrub Tablets
Coretect Tree & Shrub Tablets
Coretect Tree and Shrub, manufactured by Bayer, is a systemic insecticide that helps to prevent insect infestation within trees and shrubs. This easy to use product is applied as a tablet form around the foliage you want to protect with a residual effect up to two years.
Once applied, it helps your plants improve their health, growth rates, and prevents insects from destroying your ornamental plants and foliage.
Over the two year time period, the active ingredient (imidacloprid 20%) will release slowly into the soil based on moisture conditions, protecting your plants from insects like aphids or thripes from feeding on the foliage. It is ideal to use when treating new and established residential and commercial ornamental trees and shrubs, or in existing landscapes. Over a months time you will begin to see insect populations decreasing and your plants maintaining a better appearance.
Tools Needed
Coretect Tree and Shrub Tablets come ready to use an tablet form with no other tools necessary for application, but be sure to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when applying. You will need a measuring tape to measure the distance around the tree trunk or the height of shrub. A ruler and small shovel to measure and dig the depth of hole in soil.
How to Use
- Step 1: Measure the size of the tree trunk and shrub you intend to treat to determine how many Coretect Tree and Shrub Tablets to insert into the soil. To do this, measure the distance around the tree trunk or the height of the shrub. Measure distance in inches around the tree trunk at chest height, and apply 2 to 3 tablets per diameter of the tree trunk. For example, if one tree has four trunks and they measure 20, 10, 5 and 5 inches or a total of 40 inches (40 X 2 = 80 tablets of Coretect Tree and Shrub to use). For shrubs, you will want to use 2 to 3 tablets per foot of shrub height. Depending on the species of insect, you will want to use 3 tablets per diameter of the tree trunk or per foot of shrub height. Refer to the labels list for specifications based on the type of insect.
- Step 2: With a ruler, or small shovel dig a hole measuring 2 to 5 inches deep into the soils surface within 3 to 5 inches of newly planted trees and shrubs or within 6 to 24 inches of established ornamental plants. Place the appropriate amount of tablets in each hole around your tree or shrub. Cover the hole with an even layer of dirt after application. You do not need to apply more than 450 tablets per acre in each year.
- Step 3: Water the plants roots after first application since this tablet depends on soil moisture for activation. Continue to water the treated plant 2 to 3 months after first application to see the best results.
