Conserve SC
Conserve SC
Conserve SC, manufactured by DOW/CORTEVA, is a specialty insecticide that works as a suspended concentrate within your home garden and residential turf.
Conserve SC contains an active ingredient of spinosad 11.6% and is a natural substance made from an occurring soil bacterium. It is due to the active ingredient that Conserve SC carries a long-time residual and rather than being absorbed into foliage surfaces it will remain on the surface without easily being broken down by rain.
When targeted pests come into contact with Conserve SC it delivers an almost instant kill to thripes, caterpillars, and other targeted insects within minutes.
Tools Needed
Conserve SC will need to be mixed in either a hand held sprayer, hose end sprayer, backpack sprayer or professional spray rig for large volume applications.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Conserve SC you will need by first calculating the square footage of the area to be treated. To do this, you will need to measure and multiply length times the width of the treatment area (length x width = square footage). Conserve SC may be used up 0.2 fl. oz. per gallon (22 fl. oz. per 100 gallons, 88 fl. oz. per acre) per application on trees and ornamentals for general applications. Only a total of 58 fl. oz. of Conserve SC may be used per acre per year. No more than six applications per calendar year can be made. For turfgrass applications, no more than 1.2 fl. oz. per 1,000 sq. ft. may be used. For specific pests and foliage application rates refer to the label.
- Step 2: Fill half of the selected spray tank container with measured water then apply the appropriate amount of Conserve SC based on your calculations. Shake your container well then open it once more to fill the rest of the way with the remaining amount of water. Close your container tightly and give it one last shake to ensure even distribution.
- Step 3: Apply a perimeter barrier application of Conserve SC on area where pests are entering and exiting treatment area. Apply a coarse, even spray to the top and bottom of leaves within dense foliage, but avoid over spraying to point of excessive runoff. Reapply once every 7 days, but do not apply more than 3 times within a 21 day time period. Do not make more than six applications per calendar year. Reapplication may also be necessary if there is heavy rainfall.
Where to Use
Conserve SC is designed to be an outdoor treatment within your commercial aquatic plant production, turf grass, ornamental plants, greenhouses and nurseries, home gardens, crops, fruits and vegetables, tree farms, and plantations.
When to Use
Conserve SC should be used on cool, warm days when rainfall or high pressure winds are expected within 24 hours. It may be used as a preventative treatment or when insect activity is occurring, but for best results apply in the fall or late evening when insect activity is expected to be minimum.
Safety Information
Conserve SC is safe to use around children or pets when applied according to the product label. Make sure there are no other individuals within area as you are spraying the treatment area. Wait at least 48 hours before allowing children or pets to enter treatment area.
Always wear the appropriate personal equipment (PPE) when mixing or applying Conserve SC.
Special Considerations
Conserve SC works best when applied at a low use rate.
Conserve SC may be aerially applied to commercially grown ornamentals only.
It may only be used through a properly equipped sprinkler irrigation systems in the following crops: field grown gladiolus produced for cut flowers, field grown roses, field grown Dutch iris, and field grown delphinium.
