Bromacil 80 by Alligare is a non-selective, pre-emergent and post-emergent herbicide designed to kill all weeds and vegetation before and just after emergence in the area where the preference is bare ground.

The product is used primarily in non-crop areas and industrial sites where having plant growth is undesirable. Use it to treat rights of way and similar areas where it would be best not to have any vegetation growing.

Tools Needed

To use Bromacil 80 Herbicide, you will need a spraying tank. The product can be applied in either a backpack sprayer, hand-pump sprayer, power sprayer or spraying rig.

How to Use

  • Step 1: Determine how much Bromacil 80 you will need by first calculating the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure and multiply the area length times the width in feet (length x width = square footage). For small areas, 1/4th of a cup (2 oz.) of Bromacil in a gallon of water can treat 200 sq. ft. So for example, if you calculated an area to be 1,000 square feet, you would need 1 and 1/4th cup or 10 oz. of Bromacil mixed in 5 gallons of water.
  • Step 2: Fill your sprayer tank halfway full with water. Add Bromacil 80 at the appropriate amount based on your calculations and then add any additional component and fill with water the rest of the way, agitating throughout.
  • Step 3: Once mixed, apply Bromacil 80 as a band or broadcast treatment around areas you wish for there to be no vegetation. Reapply as needed prior to growing seasons for continued bare ground management.

Where to Use

Bromacil 80 is best used on sites where you would like no vegetation whatsoever to grow. This includes industrial sites like around airports, railroads and rights of way, non-crop producing farmlands etc. The product is not meant for residential use.

When to Use

Use during the times of the year right before plant life is supposed to grow to keep the seeds from growing and maintain bare ground. Apply Bromacil 80 as a preemergence spray prior to or during the rainy season when weeds are actively germinating or growing. For best preemergence weed control, apply prior to rainfall and weed germination.

Safety Information

Bromacil 80 is safe to use when applied according to label directions. Have on the proper PPE (gloves, mask, goggles) when applying. Keep the product out of reach from children and do not apply to sensitive areas.

Special Considerations

Due to Bromacil 80 needing to be absorbed through the root system of weeds, best results are obtained if treatment is made to moist soil and moisture is supplied by rainfall or sprinkler irrigation within two weeks of application.
