Baseline Insecticide
Baseline Insecticide
BaseLine Insecticide is manufactured by FMC and is a pretreat termiticide and professional insecticide concentrate for insect control on lawns and ornamental plants. Made with the active ingredient bifenthrin, BaseLine is labeled to successfully control 50 common insects, including subterranean termites.
When applied as a perimeter treatment, it establishes an impenetrable wall that keeps pest away. For tough turf insect problems, you can conduct a broadcast application on lawns and can even be used to control damaging insects on ornamentals and a wide variety of plants, shrubs and trees.
Tools Needed
To use Baseline you will need either a hose end sprayer, handheld pump sprayer, backpack sprayer, or spray rig. For small household jobs, we recommend a handheld 1-gallon pump sprayer or a 4-gallon backpack sprayer.
How to Use
- Step 1: Measure the square footage of the area you will be treating. You can do this by multiplying the length times width. After you have the square footage, divide by 1,000 to get the number of finished gallons of spray you will need to use. For example, if you have 3,000 sq.ft. to treat you will need (3,000/1,000) 3 gallons of solution.
- Step 2: For lawns mix between 0.07 - 0.30 oz. per gallon of water per 1,000 sq. ft. For ornamentals, mix 0.26 - 1.28 oz. per 10 gallons of water and for Termites mix between 0.32 - 0.64 oz. per gallon of water. Agitate well to ensure the product is suspended.
- Step 3: Apply BaseLine insecticide as a perimeter barrier treatment around your home and spray in cracks and crevices.
- Step 4: Reapply every 21 days as needed for continuous control of your target pest.
Where to Use
Baseline Insecticide can be used indoors and outdoors to control a wide range of pest. Focus your treatments around foundations of buildings, surface cracks, windows, doors, eaves, patios, garages, trash and dumpster areas, and other harborage and entry points. For perimeter pest control, spray Baseline Insecticide 3 feet up the foundation and 10 feet away from the foundation.
When to Use
You will want to use Baseline Insecticide when pests activity is high. For most areas of the country, this is between the spring and summer months. Apply the product quarterly for year round control.
Safety Information
Be sure to wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when applying. Baseline Insecticide should be stored safely out of reach of children or pets and after applying everyone should be kept off the treated area until it is dry.
Special Considerations
Because Baseline Insecticide is a microencapsulated insecticide formulation, it will need to be constantly agitate in the sprayer during application for best results.
