BareSpot Weed and Grass, manufactured by Proserve, is a residual non-selective herbicide used to eliminate perennial and deep rooted weeds, vegetation, and grasses. As a pelleted formulation, this product is ready to use and will remain in the treatment area for a short season allowing for effective control over young and small annual weeds or those germinating underneath the turf.

BareSpot Weed and Grass has 3 active ingredients that work well to quickly eliminate unwanted vegetation and weeds by burning them to the roots.

As a non-selective herbicide, BareSpot Weed and Grass should be used as according to the label in non-cropped and industrial areas like oil and gas refineries, vacant lots, and underneath concrete or sidewalks.

Tools Needed

BareSpot Weed and Grass comes ready to use, but you can use a handheld or push spreader for large scale areas. You will also need a water hose or irrigation system to wet the pellets after application.

How to Use

Spreading Fertilizer

  • Step 1: Determine how much BareSpot Weed and Grass to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. You can do this by multiplying the length and width together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by 43,560 sq. ft. (square footage / 43,560 = acre). For annual weeds and vegetation control apply between 1 to 2 lbs. of BareSpot Weed and Grass per 100 sq. ft. For perennial and deep rooted weeds apply 3 lbs. per 100 sq. ft.
  • Step 2: Pour the appropriate amount of BareSpot Weed and Grass into your selected spreader. Calibrate your spreader to ensure even coverage. If you do not know your spreader setting, we recommend a medium calibration setting.
  • Step 3: Walk a moderate speed in straight parallel lines from one end of the treatment area to the other to ensure even coverage. Be sure to leave between 3 to 5 feet between each pass. Once your entire treatment area has an even coverage apply a low pressure volume of water to ensure it granules are properly soaked into the root system of desired plant, but not to the point of run-off. Be sure to avoid applying or watering BareSpot Weed and Grass from desired plant roots.

Where to Use

BareSpot Weed and Grass should be used on industrial sites or similar non-cropped areas like bleachers, bridge, abutments, buildings, bunkers, buried cable closures, catwalks, compressor stations, cooling towers, cross connect boxes, ditch banks, electrical generators, fence lines, fire hydrants, plugs or walls, fuel tanks, generating plants, guardrails, helo pads, highway and street markers, loading stations, lumber yards, microwave towers, oil and gas pipelines, oil refineries, parking lots, pump decks, railroad lines and sidings, runway lights, runways, sign posts, storage and equipment yards, utility poles and substations, vacant lots, valves and manifolds, waste lagoons or other similar non-crop areas.

BareSpot Weed and Grass may also be applied under asphalt, concrete, gravel, driveways (not on a slope), sidewalks, walkways, and wood decks.

When to Use

Use BareSpot Weed and Grass anytime during the growing season or when weeds are young and actively growing. For best results, apply on warm days when rainfall and high pressure winds are not predicted within 24 hours.

Safety Information

BareSpot Weed and Grass is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label. Always wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when applying this product.
