It is applied to ornamental turfs, lawns, and various other places that require weed control. It is ideal to use on golf courses and residential areas.

MSM 60, manufactured by Alligare, is a water dispersable granule herbicide that provides some pre-emergent control of weeds, but is mainly used for post-emergent control of weeds and woody plants.
This herbicide is formulated with the active ingredient, metsulfuron methyl to eliminate a wide range of perennial and annual broadleaf and grassy weeds. It is an excellent choice when treating residential and recreational turfs and lawns with foxtail, clover, dollarweed, and more.
MSM 60 Herbicide can be applied through a professional skid sprayer to cover large areas, or it can be applied with a handheld pump sprayer for smaller jobs.
Tools Needed
To apply MSM 60 Herbicide, a backpack sprayer, handheld pump sprayer, or professional skid sprayer is needed. When treating small areas we recommend using the handheld pump sprayer.
How to Use
- Step 1: For general applications made with a professional skid sprayer, begin by filling the tank 1/4 to 1/3 full of water.
- Step 2: Begin agitating the sprayer and then add the correct amount of MSM 60 Herbicide to the spray tank. This depends on the type of targeted vegetation being controlled and the type of landscape being treated. For most uses, it is suggested to add 0.125 to 1 ounce of MSM 60 Herbicide to 80 gallons of water. Please see label for full application and use instructions.
- Step 3: As soon as the MSM 60 Herbicide is thoroughly mixed in the water, begin adding more water to the spray tank. Continue to agitating process and add any additional label approved ingredients at this time.
- Step 4: Apply MSM 60 to areas listed on the label and be sure to apply the mixture on the leaf tissue of the plant. Another application may be needed within 4 to 6 weeks. If smaller areas require treatment, fill up a handheld pump sprayer with the mixture in the skid sprayer tank.
Where to Use
MSM 60 Herbicide can be applied to residential, commercial, and non-cropland areas. It is ideal for use on lawns, golf courses, sod farms, parks, cemeteries, and other ornamental turfs.
When to Use
MSM 60 Herbicide is most effective when applied to unwanted vegetation that is healthy and full of green leafy tissue. Do not apply to areas when non-targeted grasses or plants are sick with diseases.
Safety Information
MSM 60 Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing or applying MSM 60.
Special Considerations
Results made by MSM 60 Herbicide are slowed down by cold or frozen soil when scheduling the application intervals, it is suggested to make the first application in spring to early summer. If applications are made in late summer, MSM 60 Herbicide should not be applied again until spring of the following year. The active ingredient MSM can potentially damage the root system of woody plants. It is not recommended to treat weeds with MSM 60 near ornamental plants and trees.
