Admiral Lake Colorant Dye
Admiral Lake Colorant Dye
Admiral Lake Colorant Dye is a non-toxic option for lake and pond restoration by BASF. Admiral is used in lakes and ponds to control the growth of many different types of aquatic weeds and algae, all while maintaining the color and appearance of the water with its blue colorant. Containing the highest pure dye actives of all EPA registered lake colorants, Admiral Lake Colorant dye's formulation produces longer-lasting color, with higher quality than its competitors. If you want to discourage aquatic weeds from forming on your pond and keep your water body looking great, this is a great option.
Tools Needed
There are no tools needed to apply Admiral Lake Colorant Dye to your pond.
How to Use
- Step 1: Measure the area of your pond or water body to determine how much Admiral Lake Colorant Dye you need to cover the entire space.
- Step 2: Based on your findings, pour the container of Admiral Lake Colorant Dye in several areas along the shoreline early in the growing season and then allow time for the product to disperse. A 128oz. bottle of Admiral will cover 4 acres or 4,936 cubic meters of water.
- Step 3: In colder regions, Admiral liquid colorant may also be applied if the pond or lake is still iced over. Pour directly on ice, this will melt and evenly distribute itself.
Where to Use
Aqua Black Select can be safely used in man-made lakes and ponds around golf courses, fountains and more. DO NOT apply directly to streams or water intended for human consumption and DO NOT apply to chlorine pools, as this will degrade the chlorine.
When to Use
Use Admiral Lake Colorant on water bodies that have started to look dull and lackluster in appearance and when you have aquatic weeds that you wish to remove from your water body.
Safety Information
Admiral Lake Colorant is totally non-toxic to aquatic species, waterfowl and pets and the water will be safe for recreational activity after the product has fully dispersed in the water. Only use this product in accordance with label directions. Keep out of reach of children. Put on the proper PPE when applying Dye to the water body.

Q:it says on bottle sticker not to add to pool with chlorine as color will degrade, will adding chlorine work to fix to dark of color?9/21/23A:I am not sure what exactly you are asking, but if you add chlorine to your pool after it has been treated with Admiral Lake Colorant Dye then the color will lessen and not be as dark.

Q:how do you dilute it after adding to much ?9/21/23A:This will depend on the treated site. For example, natural or man-made ponds, lakes, fountains, golf courses and swimming ponds will have to take its course to lessen the color. For swimming pools that do not contain chlorine, then you add chlorine to it after it has been treated with Admiral Lake Colorant Dye. Otherwise, you may have to drain your swimming pool.
