Admiral Lake Colorant Dye
04/10/26
Admiral Lake Colorant Dye, manufactured by BASF, is a non-toxic dye that aids lakes and ponds by controlling the growth of many different types of aquatic weeds and algae, all while maintaining the color and appearance of the water with its blue colorant.
Containing the highest pure dye actives of all EPA registered lake colorants, Admiral Lake Colorant dye's formulation produces longer-lasting color, with higher quality than its competitors.
If you want to discourage aquatic weeds from forming on your pond and keep your water body looking great, this is a great option.
Tools Needed
There are no tools needed to apply Admiral Lake Colorant Dye to your pond.
How to Use
- Step 1: To measure the volume of a pond or lake in acre-feet, start by figuring out the surface area. For rectangular ponds, simply multiply the length by the width in feet. If the pond is irregularly shaped, divide it into smaller sections, estimate the area of each, and add them together. Then, convert the total square footage into acres by dividing by 43,560, since one acre equals 43,560 square feet. Next, measure the depth at several points across the pond, including shallow and deep areas, and calculate the average depth. Once you have the surface area in acres and the average depth in feet, multiply them together to get the volume in acre-feet. For 1 acre-foot, use 1 quart of Admiral Lake Colorant Dye for 1 ppm or 2 quarts of product for 2 ppm. For 4 acre-feet, use 1 gallon of product for 1 ppm or 2 gallons of product for 2 ppm. For 8 acre-feet, use 2 gallons of product for 1 ppm or 4 gallons for 2 ppm.
- Step 2: Pour the container of Admiral Lake Colorant Dye in several areas along the shoreline early in the growing season and then allow time for the product to disperse. A 128oz. bottle of Admiral will cover 4 acres or 4,936 cubic meters of water.
- Step 3: In colder regions, Admiral liquid colorant may also be applied if the pond or lake is still iced over. Pour directly on ice, this will melt and evenly distribute itself.
