Transport Mikron
Transport Mikron
Transport Mikron is manufactured by FMC Corporation and is a microemulsion insecticide design to control termites, ants and more. With active ingredients bifenthrin and acetamiprid, it creates a non-repellent residual barrier that kills insects quickly. It has a micro-emulsion effect that creates a particle size smaller than other micro-encapsulated insecticides to provide more coverage and easily absorbed by insects. Transport Mikron does not require frequent agitation, as it remains mixed, even after it has not been in use for long periods of time. This insecticide provides fast results with long term effects and will not leave residue on treated surfaces.
Tools Needed
To apply Transport Mikron as an insecticide spray, a backpack sprayer, handheld pump sprayer, or professional skid sprayer is needed. When using Transport Mikron as a certified professional to control termites by trenching, a shovel or dirt removal tool and wheelbarrow is needed.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Transport Mikron you will need to mix by calculating the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, you will need to measure and multiply (in feet) the area length times the area width (length x width = square footage). When using Transport Mikron as a general purpose insecticide spray with a handheld pump sprayer, begin by filling the spray tank with a 1/2 gallon of water. For general household applications, 1.25 fl. oz. of Transport Mikron mixed in 1 gallon of water can treat 1,000 sq. ft. So for example, if you have a 3,000 sq. ft. area to treat you would need 3.75 oz. of Transport Mikron mixed in 3 gallons of water.
- Step 2: Fill your sprayer halfway with the required amount of water and then add the correct measured amount of Transport Mikron to the spray tank. Add the remaining half of water, close the lid and then shake the sprayer so the solution is well-mixed. You are now ready to spray.
- Step 3: Apply the Transport Mikron solution as a pinstream, spot, crack and crevice, or perimeter spray where pests have been observed or are expected to be active. For bed bugs, you can apply Transport Mikron to infested mattresses or box springs. Retreatment may be necessary to achieve and/or maintain control during periods of high pest pressure. Repeat application is necessary only if there are signs of renewed insect activity.
Where to Use
The areas where Transport Mikron can be applied varies, depending on the targeted insect being controlled. Transport Mikron can be used indoors and outdoors to control various insects. When used indoors, it can be applied as a crack and crevice treatment around windows, doors, furniture, cabinets, under appliances, around plumbing pipes, flooring, closets, and other areas. Transport Mikron cannot be used as a broadcast spray when applied indoors.
When applied outdoors, Transport Mikron can be applied around the perimeter of residential, commercial and industrial buildings. It can be applied to cracks and crevice areas around windows, porches, patios, eaves, doors, weep holes, and other areas to create a residual barrier.
When used as a professional termiticide, it can be applied by trenching and rodding.
When to Use
Transport Mikron can be applied as a prevention method before targeted insect activity is confirmed. It can also be applied after targeted insects are suspected. When applied as a termiticide, it must be used by licensed pest control.
