Taurus SC Termiticide

Free Shipping on All Orders

Taurus SC Termiticide/Insecticide from Control Solutions (generic Termidor SC) is the first post patent fipronil 9.1% product available on the market. Its unique non-repellent formula ensures full control of active termite infestations. This product is 100% guaranteed for up to 9 years from the date of application.

Target Pests

Taurus is labelled for termites fleas roaches ants and other listed insects. The primary use is for termite treatments around residential and commercial structures. Leaf Cutter Ants

For Use In

Taurus is used for termite trenching pre construction post construction and barrier application treatments.

Application

Pre Construction Taurus SC treatments are made during all steps up to the and including the installation of the final grade. The goal of a termite pre-treat is to create a complete horizontal and vertical chemical barrier of Fipronil at a concentration of .125%.

Slab treatments of Taurus SC should cover the entire area of earth beneath the concrete slab. This includes home, garage, basements, and any extended entrances and walkways. Spray 1 gallon of mixed Taurus solution to cover 10 square feet of area. A low pressure spray works best for even application. NOTE: Around gaps in the slab (plumbing, utility services, etc) spray 10 gallons of Taurus SC Solution to ensure proper protection. NOTE: Around the perimeter of the foundation spray Taurus solution at a rate of 4 gallons for each 10 linear feet.

Post Construction Taurus SC Treatments are made after construction has been completed. Generally post construction termite treatments are performed to eliminate colonies that have infested a home. To treat the home you must trench Taurus SC solution around the house at a rate of 4 finished Taurus SC gallons per 10 linear feet of foundation. Generally a professional will drill holes into the foundation at 12 inch increments and inject 4 gallons per 10 linear feet for sub-slab protection. Bath traps should be treated with Taurus SC at a rate of 4 finished Taurus SC gallons per square foot of area. Shower drains and adjacent soil should be treated for complete protection. Drill through the slab around the drain and sub slab inject 4 gallons of finished Taurus solution per shower drain. A directional dispersion tip may be needed to ensure total termite control. Foaming wall voids may be necessary where termite damage is suspected or present.

To foam, mix 1 gallon of Taurus SC solution and appropriate amount of foaming agent to create 25 gallons of foam in foaming machine. Apply at a rate of 3 gallons of foam per wall void.

To use Taurus to control ants you can apply according to labelled directions.

Please refer to the Taurus label and MSDS for more application instructions.

Coverage Area

A Taurus SC 20oz will treat 200 square feet when preforming a pre-construction treatment. A Taurus SC 20oz will treat 60 linear feet when preforming a post-construction termite trenching treatment.

Time to Kill

Taurus SC is a slower acting insecticide and complete control of termites and ants will take up to 60 days. Taurus SC will kill termites for up to 9 years when trenched into the soil.

Taurus SC Termiticide

The Difference Between Termidor SC and Taurus SC

Termite infestations are one of the biggest problems a homeowner can go through and can absolutely devastate a home with their damage. Pest control manufacturers scrambled to try to find an answer to control these destructive wood-eating pests and years ago they found their answer with Termidor SC. Subsequently, a generic version was also made called Taurus SC which contains an identical formula. So what’s the difference between the two? We’ll get into it here.

Background on Termidor SC In the year 2000, Termidor SC was introduced and essentially revolutionized the pest control industry with its effective formula and became a go-to product for pest management professionals to deal with termite issues in their client’s homes.

The main feature which made Termidor so effective, which the same is the case for Taurus SC, is the fact that it is a non-repellent. Termites are not able to detect the formula so wherever it was applied, termites would freely forage through the treated areas, completely oblivious to the fact that they were ingesting, picking up and transferring a lethal termite killer.

This “transfer effect” became the trademark of Termidor and it’s generic equivalent Taurus SC and would successfully wipe out entire colonies of termites. For a good chunk of time, Termidor became the primary termiticide for pest control professionals, that is, until Taurus SC came along and became a game changer.

Taurus SC: The Affordable Alternative to Termidor SC

Taurus SC, manufactured by Control Solutions Inc, was made as a generic brand of Termidor SC’s winning formula.  This was helpful to pest control companies who were looking to save money. Taurus SC is primarily used for Termites but has also been a popular product to treat for ants.

Taurus SC has also been a great product to use for DIYers who want to do their own termite treatments around the home since Termidor requires a BASF license to be able to purchase it. This makes it so most average homeowners can’t buy the product to do their own termite applications.

Termidor SC vs. Taurus SC

When it comes to comparing Termidor SC and Taurus SC, there is not much of a difference between the two products. They both contain Fipronil has their main active ingredient (which is also in another popular product of ours and excellent for termite control, FiPro Foaming Aerosol) and post similar percentages. Both products have been proven to eliminate infestations of termites, ants and various other pests and have successfully been used as a barrier treatment for the perimeter of homes and buildings.

While Taurus SC and Termidor SC are nearly identical and there’s no glaring advantage that one has over the other, Solutions Pest & Lawn recommends Taurus SC over Termidor for the sake of convenience for the pest control DIYer. There’s more variety in sizes, there’s less restrictions when it comes to purchasing it, you don’t need a BASF license so you can't go wrong with Taurus SC for termite control.

I do not have termites, but they are in the woods close by. The exterminator wants me to pay for them to inspect our home and pay big bucks for an annual guarantee. I am interested in applying for prevention. What is the application method for most effective control?
FLman on Feb 8, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The trench around the foundation of the home would be the most effective treatment method. If the home is on a full slab we would dig a trench around the home. Calculate for every 10 linear feet that are dug we would need to use 4 mixed gallons of the Taurus and mix with the soil. This method would provide the most effective barrier around the home and last the longest.
How is the product applied to a house that is on pier and beam?
mack w on Mar 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: You will need to find your crawl space and spray under your house around the piers and against the foundation. You should also apply it around the perimeter. Sorry but termites do not like the sun which is why they nest in the cool shade under your home or attic and tunnel up into your house. You can do it! Wear a mask, googles and gloves, whenever you handle this product!!!!
will it work on fleas
Wolf on Jul 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Taurus SC is not labeled for Flea control, better to use Permethrin SFR for flea control outside, add a bag of granules for better control.

Inside I would recommend for flea control using Novacide.

How do I treat an oak tree?
Donnae on May 14, 2018

Is it safe to use around pets?
A shopper on Oct 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It is recommended that you keep pets out of the area while applying Taurus SC OUTSIDE (not for inside use). Once the product has dried completely, it is safe for pets to return to the area. Don't leave puddles that they might drink from.
Taurus SC: I have been fighting ants outside my Miami slab built house for about 5 years. I have tried every product sold at Home Depot (concentrates, pre-mixed, baits, granules, sprays, gels, etc.) and have only had a few days of no ants and then they’re back in full force. After reading so many good things about Taurus SC, I thought, sure why not? On July 2, 2018, I sprayed Taurus SC according to directions up the side of my house, a foot around my house, driveway and patios, and I also sprayed the window sills.

By July 4th, there were NO visible ants to be found anywhere around the exterior of my house! And today, July 24th all I saw around the exterior of my house were 5 ants – amazing! This product has performed above and beyond my expectations!

An interesting thing has happened though that I don’t understand and I hope to get some feedback/ideas here. On Saturday, July 14th, hundreds, if not thousands, of black ants started to come into my house!!! I believe they are coming up from the slab (I have always suspected I had colonies of ants under the slab). For the past ten days every morning, and again in the evening, I go to my house to vacuum up hundreds of dead ants. There has not been any let up in the amount of ants constantly entering my house – I have had to move out of my house!

I don’t understand what’s going on. If this product is supposed to be non detectable to the ants (no taste/smell, etc) why are these ants not going outside, since I still see no ants outside, and they are coming inside the house to die?

I feel I don’t need to put out any more insecticide in any form in or outside of my house since these ants all die inside my house – has anyone had any similar experience? Does anyone have any idea as to what’s happening – what can I do? I would love to be able to move back into my house soon!

Thank you.
Marie on Jul 24, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Marie, I have not had that problem with ants but I did have a similar problem with termites in my previous home. I saw evidence of termites and I panicked and called a well known pest control and they came out and treated my home to the tune of $2000.00. My home was also on a slab and then they informed me they would not bond my home because it was on a slab. That started the battle and we eventually got a refund. Spring comes and termites swarm in my house. We called the second pest control company and contracted with them. Another treatment and again $2000 dollars and I wont go into detail about the problems with them, but will mention that they drilled into my water line in the slab What a mess! Spring comes and termites swarm in my house again. I never had worker termites return only the swarmers. Then I treated myself. I removed the baseboards in the center of my house, drilled a hole through the slab about every 18 inches and put a repellant type termiticide under the slab only in the center of my house. After that no more termites. This might help you. I think that the ants don't cross to the outside probably has nothing to do with the Taurus sc but is because of all the other pesticides that have been used over the years because they will remain in the ground for years. I hope this helps.

How long does it last after mixing?
A shopper on Aug 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I personally don't think you should mix it until application, However after application it is supposed to be effective for up to 6 years. Nevertheless, I would expect it to last a few days at least, If you have some left over due to over prepare and wish to store it I would contact the manufacturer.
I have a crawl space with many pillars. How do i treat this for termites?>
Lunkolee on Aug 12, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Each side of each block would need to be trenched, then apply chemical in trench and let it get absorbed.
I buy the taurus sc. To put on soil but i think the termites r on the wall do to the termites take the substens to other???
Chilo on Apr 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Your question is way to open. First; are they subterranean Termites? If so, a soil treatment should be enough. Is there any pipes, or slab cracks close to the infested wall? If so, you have to treat that also. I would not just guess, at least get a professional inspection and determine if you can do it by yourself.
What is the trench sizes needed?

A shopper on Jul 1, 2018

A shopper on Apr 28, 2018

My foundation sits on a slab/footing that extends about six or seven inches beyond the foundation. I assume I have to trench six inches down beside the slab/footing not just down to the slab/footing?

Easy to use, Quick to work!
I chose this product after looking around the web and seeing this as the product to be the most effective, while also being easy to use. Placed this product around the perimeter as I was putting in a foundation for an addition. This area had a previous old addition on it that had termite problems. I wanted to be sure to eradicate the pests and add a layer of protection to our 180 year old log house. Two days after using this product I have seen numerous crickets and other bugs laying dead on my newly poured slab. While not my target species I feel this is a good indicator that this product is working as described. Thank you Control Solutions for offering an effective product, thorough directions for homeowner application, and a reasonably priced solution. Your ordering department was also great to work with. I have several friends that are already considering ordering from you.
Thanks again, Kent D.

Controls carpenter ants very effectively
We've been having problems with carpenter ants in our home for some time now. I've tried various ant baits and killers from the "big box" stores with only limited success. So I decided to give Taurus SC a try. The results were really amazing. We've not seen a living crawling ant in our home since I treated the perimeter -- only dead ones initially after treatment. It was simple to use with a pump sprayer, just make sure you follow the safety instructions.

Effective control of big ants outdoors
Had ants on back patio and siding outside house. Sprayed several times with Bug-B-Gon full strength (did not dilute); still, ants would come back after an hour. Sprayed Taurus SC (mixed per label- 0.8 oz in 1 gal water) and haven't seen ants in weeks.
