Solo 451 Mist Blower Fogging Backpack

Solo 451 Mist Blower Fogging Backpack

Solo mist blowers are among the most popular brand worldwide. They are highly sought after in the world of agriculture, horticulture, woodland maintenance, public park  and green area management, as well as amongst fruit and vine growers and in coffee and cocoa plantations in Africa and South America. This success does not come out of the blue:

First off, Solo mist blowers have an impressive spraying capacity as well as being light. These characteristics make them the environmentally responsible choice for the economical protection of all crops and plantings anywhere in the world.

Second of all, Solo misters are remarkably robust and easy to handle. Thanks to all these benefits, they have been helping to bring about high yields around the globe for many years. In this, advanced engine technology from Solo ensures low fuel consumption, reduced exhaust gas emissions and high performance in continuous use - even when it gets very hot.

Aside from lawn management and weed control, the solo 451 Mister can also be used for pest control especially when it comes to eliminating swarms of mosquitoes.

The Solo 451 Backpack Sprayer also has an array of accessories which make it even more versatile. The standard delivery of the SOLO 451 includes a long reach nozzle as well as a wide spray grille and a nozzle with interchangeable deflectors.

The spray width increases with the wide spray grille. The nozzle with single sided deflector makes it easier to spray rows of crops and also enables you to reach underneath leaves. The double sided deflector allows you to treat two rows at a time.

How To Use the Solo 451 Mist Blower Fogging Backpack

Before starting up the Solo 451, here are some things you should know. If you fill it up with liquid before you check the shut off switch, all the liquid will run out of the sprayer. First check and make sure the shut off switch is in the off position so liquid doesn't spill all over the floor. The second thing you want to check is to make sure the on-off switch is in the off position before filling it with liquid.

In order to fill up the Solo 451 the first thing to do is take the cap off the top and take a look inside. There is a screen there to prevent debris from falling in. The Solo 451 is a 4 gallon back pack sprayer so what you want to do is fill it up exactly halfway full with water. After it is filled up halfway, take your chemical of choice and pour it into the backpack according to the proper application rates.

Agitate the backpack a bit and then top of the sprayer with the additional two gallons of water required for proper mix. The Solo 451 is geared a little bit different than most other types of yard equipment. When starting the 451 you will need to gently pull it until you feel its tight and slowly pull steady. Do not jerk it or else you may break the string or the inner controls. The pull should be slow and smooth unlike lawn mowers that require a strong jerking pull.

We recommend you place the 451 Solo bckpack on either a picnic table or the tail gate of a truck before placing it on your back. The reason we suggest this is because the Solo 451 Misting backpack itself is 40 pounds. When it's filled with liquid, that's another 40 pounds so it would be quite heavy to place on their from off the floor. You don't want to lose your balance, slip or hurt your back in putting it on.

On the very end of the Solo 451 you'l find a setting that is between 1 and 4. This controls the amount of liquid that is added into the air stream. 1 being the least amount of liquid and 4 being the most. We suggest starting at 1 and testing out the mister before adding more liquid to the stream on one of the other number settings. The 451 has a pistol grip handle and on it is a trigger. The trigger controls the throttle. If you pull the trigger, the throttle goes up which will give you more air stream and if you get your finger off it, it will go idle.

The Solo 451 can be used to control mosquitoes around trees and yards. Mosquitoes live on the underside of leaves so what you'll want to do is spray from the ground up to about 6 to 8 feet and make sure to get underneath all of the leaves. You can also use the 451 to spray around your home to prevent bugs and overwintering pests from intruding upon your home.

Can this backpack be used as a mosquito and insect fogger? We have a large property that is infested with mosquitoes and we need a fogger that is portable? Will this work and what chemicals can I use in the unit?
Bill on Apr 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Absolutely, the Solo 451 Mist Blower is a perfect solutions for mosquito control and insect fogging.

I would recommend using Tekko 1 to 2 ounce per gallon, Reclaim IT 1 to 2 ounces and mix all together with the 1 gallon of water.

Use your mosquito fogger to apply to all the grass, foliage and open areas in your front and backyard. You will probably want to apply once a week for the first couple of weeks until you get the population of mosquitoes under control. The mist blower will work great for other insects also.
Can this convert to a regular backpack blower when not using with pesticides?
jeremiah on May 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No, this backpack sprayer is not able to be converted to a regular blower, it has similar components but is meant to be used to apply insecticide.

Solo 451 Mist Blower Fogging Backpack
I purchased this for Mosquito control on my property. I followed the companies recommendations and used Talstar P, 1 ounce to 1 gallon of water. I added 3 Gallons of water to the tank, added 3 ounces of Talstar P closed the lid and shook the unit to mix everything up. I could have added a larger quantity of water and chemical, but, it is nice and light if you do not fill the tank right to the brim. I've been applying the solution to my trees, shrubs and lawn for twice a month and have noticed and enormous reduction in Mosquitos.
The money spent was well worth my mental health, allowing me to spend time in my yard and garden....my wife is extremely happy with fewer mosquitos being around, and I got a new strong tool in my garage.

Awesome Fogger
living by water the mosquitos are always awful. This fogger is such an easy thing to use when I want to spray my yard for mosquitos. I use it every couple of weeks just because the mosquitos are so bad but the fogger is so quiet and not that heavy either so it is a great portable one if you have a huge yard like me!

I am not unhappy with this product because I haven't received it yet. I am extremely unhappy with ePestSolutions service. I ordered and paid for this product two weeks ago and paid a premium for 3 day delivery. When it hadn't arrived in a week, I called customer service. I was told very politely that the item was backordered. I told the customer service rep that the fact this this product was back ordered never appeared on the internet page from which I ordered it. Had I known, I wouldn't have purchased it because my peach tree blossoms were opening and I needed it. she apologized quite politely. I said: ""You have $715 of my money, I paid for 3 day delivery and I have no product. I phoned again a few days later and was politely informed that the product was in and would be shipped to me. I had assumed since there was a mistake to begin with, that ePestSolutions would get it to me ASAP. That was 5 days ago and I still have no product. I have sprayed my trees with a simple Solo backpack sprayer I used when the trees were small. It is like spraying with a squirt gun. I have spent a tremendous amount of time unnecessarily and am very unhappy. Keep the $5.00 you offer for this review. Just get me the damn product and refund back the premium I paid for the original 3 day delivery. thank you.
