Tools Needed:

To use Captan 50% you will need a pump sprayer or backpack sprayer for small scale use. For large scale use, you can use a spray rig.

How to Use:

Captan 50 Spray

  • Step 1: Determine how much Captan 50 you need by calculating the size of the area to be treated. To do this you will need to measure and multiply length x width. Captan 50 is used at a rate of 1.5 tbs. to 4 tbs. per gallon of water depending on what crop is being treated. For example, to treat Carnations for leaf spot, you will need to use 1.5 tbs. per gallon of water.
  • Step 2: Fill your sprayer halfway with water. While wearing a protective mask, measure out the appropriate amount of product and add it to your sprayer. Fill the remaining amount with water and thoroughly agitate your sprayer and you're ready to apply.
  • Step 3:  Evenly spray the product over the desired areas. Do not over apply, as this could harm the plants.

Where to Use:

Captan can be applied over croplands for various types of fruit like apples, peaches, grapes and more. This product can also be used on commercially grown flowers like carnations, roses, and many more.

When to Use:

Use Captan when your plants are showing signs of disease or fungi. This product will eliminate both and prevent future growth of the disease for fungi.

Safety Information:

Captan 50 is safe to use when applied according to label directions. This product is a fine powder, so it is very important to always wear a protective face mask, along with other personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent any dust or powder from this product from contaminating you.

Special Considerations:

Captan 50 is a powder, and not only needs extra time and agitation to dissolve properly, but also needs to be regularly agitated so that it does not form clumps and cause improper dilution rates, or clog the intake of your sprayer.
