Gentrol IGR Concentrate
Gentrol IGR Concentrate is an effective (s)-hydroplane-based insect growth regulator that prevents pests like bed bugs or drain flies from reaching sexual maturity. It gets rid of insects in hard-to-reach areas or sensitive application sites like food and non-food areas long after application.
09/07/25
Gentrol IGR Concentrate, manufactured by Zoecon, is a high-performing insect growth regulator concentrate that helps control various immature insects, such as bed bugs or cockroaches, by stunting their growth for up to 120 days after application.
It features a translocative active ingredient (S)-hydroprene 9.0%, which effectively breaks the pest's life cycle by making adult insects incapable of reproducing and stunting their growth, providing more long-term pest control. Not only does it limit resistance and reinfestation situations, but it also increases the success of other pesticides like baits.
Gentrol IGR Concentrate alone can address an insect infestation, but it can easily be mixed with another insecticide to simultaneously target adult pests. When applied, this product can control insects hiding deep within the cracks and crevices of multiple sensitive sites, such as restaurants, residential homes, or nursing homes.
Tools Needed
Apply Gentrol IGR Concentrate as a fog or an ultra-low-volume (ULV) mist with equipment such as ULV, mechanical misting sprayers, aerosol generators, or thermal foggers to achieve uniform coverage.
When Gentrol IGR Concentrate is mixed with a diluent, it may be applied with spray or hand application equipment, such as hand-pressurized or power-operated sprayers capable of delivering general surface spray, fogging (space spray/mist), spot, crack, and crevice spray applications, or with a paintbrush, roller, or similar device.
How to Use
- Step 1: Prior to Gentrol IGR Concentrate application, remove or cover all food items in the area to be treated. Determine how much Gentrol IGR Concentrate you will need by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the treatment areas' length and width in feet, then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). Use 1 oz. of Gentrol IGR Concentrate mixed in 1 gallon of water per 1,500 sq. ft. of surface area for general surface applications. For fogging (spray/mist) applications, use 1 oz. of product per 12,000 cu. ft. So for example, if you had a 3,000 sq. ft. area to treat, you would need 2 oz. of Gentrol IGR mixed with 2 gallons of water.
- Step 2: Fill your sprayer halfway with water and add 1 ounce of Gentrol IGR Concentrate to the tank. Fill the sprayer the rest of the way with the remaining half of water and then shake the sprayer. An approved adulticide can also be added; just follow the label instructions for application rates.
- Step 3: Spray labeled indoor areas where targeted pests have been spotted or known to frequent. Make spot treatments along baseboards, cracks and crevices, storage areas, doors and windows, and floors and ceilings. To spray the mixed Gentrol IGR Concentrate as a fog application, apply the product in the air and direct the mist toward all areas that may harbor target pests. After treatment, leave the room closed for 30 minutes or longer as recommended by the equipment manufacturer or the labels of other products applied in tank mixing. Do not remain in the treated area; ventilate before reentry. If needed, reapply after 4 months after the last application or every 14 days for heavy bed bug infestations. Repeat applications at 2 to 4-week intervals depending upon the severity of drain fly or fruit fly infestation.
Where to Use
Gentrol IGR Concentrate can be used in apartment buildings, bakeries, bottling facilities, breweries, boiler rooms, cafeterias, candy plants, grocery stores, daycare centers, hospitals, residential homes, hotels/motels, office buildings, kitchens, laboratories, cereal processing facilities, manufacturing plants, mausoleums, meat and produce canneries, nursing homes, restaurants, schools, locker rooms, stores, taverns, warehouses, as well as various modes of transportation such as aircraft, buses, trucks, trailers, rail cars, and marine vessels.
This product can be applied to walls, floors, ceilings, attics, basements, or crawlspaces as a general surface treatment.
Apply crack and crevice treatments directly to crevices, baseboards, floors, ceilings, or walls. Apply spot treatments to areas such as storage areas, closets, around water pipes, doors, windows, and behind and under appliances/equipment, furniture, and beds.
Do not spray Gentrol IGR Concentrate directly on mattresses, couches, or linens.
When to Use
Gentrol IGR Concentrate can be used when insect populations have become difficult to control or at the first sign of pest activity.
Safety Information
Gentrol IGR Concentrate is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when making mixing and applying this product.
Always remove food, dishes, and utensils away from areas being treated.
Keep children and pets away from treated areas until the spray has completely dried and the area has been thoroughly ventilated.
Special Considerations
Gentrol IGR Concentrate does not kill adult insects; it only stops their ability to reproduce. If adult insects are a problem and need to be treated, mix Gentrol IGR with an approved adulticide (insecticide). Always read the product label for Gentrol IGR and the insecticide before mixing and applying them.
