Tools Needed
A handheld spreader, push spreader, or broadcast spreader will be needed.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Award 22-0-5 Fertilizer with 0.38% Barricade Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For turf, apply 9 pounds of Award 22-0-5 Fertilizer with 0.38% Barricade Herbicide per 1,000 sq. ft. For landscapes, field-grown ornamentals, and non-crop areas use 3.9 to 9.0 pounds of product per 1,000 sq. ft. Do not exceed a total of 9.0 lb product per 1,000 sq. ft. per year for any application site. Do not make more than two applications per calendar year.
- Step 2: Calibrate your spreader to the proper setting then load the correct amount of granules.
- Step 3: Ensure even distribution across the treatment area, but avoid overlaps. After application, water in with 0.5 inches of water within 14 days, either from watering or rain or incorporate into the top 1-2 inches of soil within 14 days after application. Another application may be made 60-90 days later, if necessary.
Where to Use
Award 22-0-5 Fertilizer with 0.38% Barricade Herbicide can be used on established turfgrasses (excluding golf course putting greens), lawns, athletic fields, parks, and sod farms. It may also be used in field-grown and landscape ornamentals, and established perennial and wildflower plantings.
Non-crop areas, including landscape beds, ornamentals, and established perennial wildflower plantings on or surrounding municipal grounds and government installations, managed rights-of-way for transportation systems and utilities (including roadways, roadsides, railways, and equipment yards).
Do not apply to putting greens or turfgrass areas where dichondra, colonial bentgrass, velvet bentgrass, or annual bluegrass (Poa annua) are desirable species.
When to Use
Make a single application in the fall and spring prior to weed emergence.
On newly-transplanted ornamentals, apply after the soil has settled around the transplants.
Do not apply to overseeded areas for 60 days after seeding, or until after the second mowing, whichever is longer. Do not overseed for 4 months after the last application of this product.
