Atrazine 4L Herbicide
Atrazine 4L Herbicide is a post-emergent and pre-emergent herbicide designed to control annual broadleaf and grass weeds growing on croplands, home lawns, ornamental turf, and rights-of-way. It can be applied aerially or on the ground.
10/29/25
This product is a restricted use herbicide that can only be purchased and applied by certified applicators.
Atrazine 4L Herbicide, manufactured by Drexel Chemical Company, is a restricted-use, post-emergent, pre-emergent herbicide that controls annual broadleaf and grass weeds in cornfields, sugarcane fields, and turfs.
The active ingredient, Atrazine, will kill weeds as seeds or kill emerging weeds through the root system. Atrazine 4L Herbicide will control barnyard grass, chickweed, henbit, and more.
Atrazine 4L Herbicide is a flexible product that can be mixed, measured, and applied in different ways to prevent unwanted vegetation from taking over crops and ornamental turfs.
Tools Needed
You will need a backpack sprayer, handheld pump sprayer, hose-end sprayer or professional skid sprayer is needed.
When applying Atrazine 4L to residential lawns, a handheld pump sprayer or backpack sprayer is recommended.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Atrazine 4L Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the treatment areas' length and width in feet, then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). Atrazine 4L's label recommends applying the product at 1.5 fl. oz. per 1,000 square feet in a gallon of water or 4 pints per acre in 15 gallons. For example, if you have a 3,000-square-foot area to be treated, you would need 4.5 ozs of Atrazine mixed with 3 gallons of water. To treat 3 acres, you need 12 pints in at least 45 gallons of water.
- Step 2: Start the mixing and agitation and pour the correct amount of product into the spray tank. Fill the spray tank with water until it is about 90% full, and then add emulsifiable oil, oil concentrate, or tank-mix herbicides after thoroughly mixing the product. The type of crop and land areas being treated will determine the required amount of additives and whether the treated area requires irrigation. Fill the rest of the tank with the remaining water and agitate to ensure it is well-mixed.
- Step 3: Apply the mixture to designated areas, preferably in a fan nozzle spray setting, for even coverage until all or most of the solution is used.
Where to Use
Atrazine 4L Herbicide can be applied to specific cropland areas where corn, ornamentals, sugarcane, and other crops grow. It can also be applied to turfs and commercial and home lawns.
When to Use
The best times to apply will be determined by the targeted weeds being controlled. This product should only be applied during the dormant season of the area being treated.
Do not apply to turf grasses if the area is infested with diseases or insects.
Safety Information
Atrazine 4L Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment when mixing and applying this product.
