Advance 375A Select Granular Ant Bait, manufactured by BASF, is a ready-to-use product designed to address indoor and outdoor ant infestations around a home or building.

This bait formulation combines a mixture of foods and the delayed-action insecticide Abamectin. This insecticide reduces the population of worker ants and can cause an immediate halt in egg production, resulting in colony elimination.

Advance 375A Select Granular Bait is protein-based which is attractive to many ant species that prefer to eat protein.

Tools Needed

You do not need any tools to use Advance 375A Select Granular Ant Bait, as the product can be sprinkled or shaken out of the container.

You may use a bulb duster to apply this product.

How to Use

sprinkling Advance 375A

  • Step 1: Determine how much bait is needed by measuring the treatment areas' square footage. To do this, measure the length and width in feet then multiply them together (length x width = square footage). Advance 375A Bait should be applied at a rate of 0.4 oz per 1,000 sq. ft. So, if you measured a 3,000 sq. ft. area, you would need 1.2 oz. of bait to cover the area. The rate to treat individual ant colonies is 1.5 to 2.1 oz of product per mound.
  • Step 2: Sprinkle the bait around the ant mound/location at the rate listed on the label. You can watch the ants carry the bait back to the mounds within moments. Around structures, lightly sprinkle the product evenly in a band approximately 1-2 feet wide around the foundation of the building. Treat visible trails with approximately 0.3 to 1 ounce of the product, depending on the number of ants in the trail. Indoors, apply the product to cracks and crevices or voids where ants are active. In areas where there is heavy ant traffic and activity, up to 1.5 ounces of product are used. Use a bulb duster or other appropriate application device to place the product into tiny crevices or voids.
  • Step 3: Monitor the area for insect activity after a few days and repeat as needed until the infestation is gone.

Where to Use

Advance 375A Ant Bait can be applied in residential areas, commercial buildings, hotels, lawns, Warehouses, food storage areas, meatpacking plants, motels, schools, supermarkets, nursing homes, golf courses, parks, and basically anywhere you have an ant infestation that you want to get rid of. Focus areas of treatment around ant trails and places where they have frequented.

When To Use

Advance 375A Ant Bait should be used when you encounter an ant infestation in your home or building. Although it can be any time of the year, the prime active time for ants is the warmer spring and summer months, which continue into the fall.

Locate ants and determine feeding times. To assess feeding time, place a potato chip near an ant mound. It's feeding time when the chip is covered in ants.

Safety Information

Advance 375A Bait is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when applying this product.

Keep out of reach from children and pets.

Special Considerations

Store Advance 375A in a temperature-stable environment for longer-lasting results. It can be placed in convenient and clear bait plate stations for easy monitoring and clean-up.

This is helpful in areas like the kitchen and where food is handled or eaten. You should also consider using a sweet bait like Ant-Trax Ant Bait in combination with Advance 375A to address ants that prefer sweet baits.

Keith's Pro Tips"Place bait near ants in a way that is natural and doesn’t disrupt their normal behavior and routines. Do not kill ants who are foraging or trailing. Allow them the time to take the bait and return to their nests or else they may avoid the bait entirely. Ants are smarter than you think."
Product DrawbacksDo not use in areas that have been already been treated with insecticides or sprays. This will result in the bait to be unattractive to the ants and rendering it ineffective.

Time to KillAdvance 375A's active ingredient Abamectin B1 is a GABA inhibitor that interferes with the normal functioning of an insect’s nervous system and begins affecting ant populations within 24 hours. This type of insecticide allows the ants time to take the bait back to the nest where it is distributed throughout the colony. Reproduction of the colony halts once the queens have been eliminated and the workers, who carried the bait, perish.
