09/14/25
Optigard Ant Gel Bait, manufactured by Syngenta, is a ready-to-use product with a palatable formula that provides unparalleled ant control results indoors and outdoors.
Due to the unique action of its active ingredient, thiamethoxam 0.010%, this ant gel bait quickly transfers throughout the colony with little resistance. Its powerful active ingredient and ability to hold shape without runoff results in eliminating workers, broods, and queens of ants.
Optigard Ant Gel Bait is a highly palatable, non-repellent bait that can reduce ant populations within a few days to up to two weeks.
Tools Needed
This product is a ready-to-use (RTU) insecticide and will not require tools.
How to Use
- Step 1: Inspect for ants' presence and place this product in areas where ants are seen. When you are ready to use Optigard Ant Gel Bait, simply open the cap on the syringe. Apply up to 1 gram of Optigard Ant Gel Bait gel per spot.
- Step 2: Optimal locations for indoor bait placement are the active points of entry and areas with potentially high moisture, including wall voids, cracks and crevices in kitchens and bathrooms, under sinks, window sills and door frames, screen vents, attics, crawl spaces, and garages. In areas of excessive foraging activity, place bait in several locations near the point of entry. Do not place bait in routinely washed areas, as washing will remove or dilute bait. Do not treat food preparation surfaces.
- Step 3: For outdoor applications, place Optigard Ant Gel Bait on, into, or adjacent to structures where ants are observed, adjacent to ant trails, and to areas suspected of ant activity. Optimal locations for bait placement are points of entry into the structure and areas with potential periods of high moisture, such as soffits, eaves, weep holes, and where pipes and wires enter the structure. Exposure to direct sunlight, extreme heat, or cold water may reduce the length of bait effectiveness. Bait may also be placed outdoors into refillable tamper-resistant bait stations. Close tamper-resistant stations securely after application.
- Step 4: Apply Optigard Ant Gel Bait as often as needed or until there are no more signs of ant activity.
Where to Use
Optigard Ant Gel Bait can be placed in cracks and crevices found indoors and outdoors in homes and restaurants; it can be applied around window sills, door frames, under appliances, the corners of shelves in cabinets, under sinks, around baseboards, porch railings, weep holes where plumbing or wires enter the structure. Optigard Ant Gel Bait can be applied around soffit or fascia boards, vents, and other areas where ants can enter the structure.
Do not apply this product on surfaces that touch food, utensils, or serving dishes, and do not apply where it is accessible to pets or children.
When to Use
It can be used whenever ant activity is seen or suspected.
Each application will last up to 2 weeks. Avoid making outdoor applications when it is raining.
