Dylox 6.2, manufactured by Bayer, is a granular insecticide containing the active ingredient Trichlorfon. It is used for the selective control of white grubs and other common turf insects that damage plants on landscape and recreational turfgrass.

This product can even penetrate thatch up to 1/2 inch thick. It provides rapid curative grub control in as little as 24 hours and has a longer effective application window than most competitors.

Dylox 6.2 is easy to apply and can be part of a solid long-term strategy for keeping turf pests away all season long.

Tools Needed

You will need a broadcast push spreader or drop-type spreader.

Do not apply this product using hand-held or chest-mounted spreaders. Aerial application is prohibited.

How to Use

Spreading granules of Dylox 6.2

  • Step 1: Determine how much Dylox 6.2 to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). To treat sod webworms, cranberry girdlers, cutworms, and armyworms, use 2 pounds of products per 1,000 square feet. To treat root-feeding insects such as white grub larvae, chinch bugs, and billbugs, you should use the product at a rate of 3 pounds per 1,000 square feet. So for example, if your yard is 2,000 square feet and you want to treat for sod webworms, you would need 4 pounds of Dylox 6.2.
  • Step 2: Calibrate your spreader to the right spreader setting for application and load the granules into the spreader. The label provides you with the proper calibration recommendation.
  • Step 3: Uniformly spread the Dylox 6.2 granules across your lawn. For even coverage, this may take at least two walkthroughs, perpendicular to each other.
  • Step 4: Water the treated area to activate the insecticide. Wait a minimum of 7 days for the insecticide to retreat. Limit the number of applications to turf to 3 times per calendar year.

Where to Use

Dylox 6.2 can be applied on residential and business turf, golf courses, agricultural landscapes, ornamentals, gardens and many other listed areas where turf insects are causing damage.

Do not apply within 25 feet of lakes, reservoirs, rivers, permanent streams, marshes, natural ponds, or estuaries.

When to Use

Use when there are turf insects on your property that are damaging plants. The prime time turf insects show up are in the early spring between March and April.

Safety Information

Dylox 6.2 is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling and applying this product.

Do not enter or allow others to enter the treated area until the surface is dry after watering in.

Special Considerations

In order to release the active ingredient in the product you must water the turf and the product the same day as the application. Make sure there is enough water to let the product penetrate into the excess thatch thoroughly. If sufficient rainfall occurs after application, no additional watering is needed.

Broadcast use is limited to tees and greens on golf courses, and use on fairways is limited to spot treatments.
