BTI Mosquito Briquettes

Free Shipping on All Orders

BTI Mosquito Briquettess are a sustained-release larvicide that conveniently floats right on the water surface. These briquets can be used in virtually any standing water site where mosquito larvae grow. As the briquets float, BTI (or bacillus thuringiensis israelensis, a natural mosquito-killing biocontrol agent) is slowly released at the water’s surface and gradually settles in the water where it is consumed mosquito larvae.

Target Pests

Mosquitoes and Psychodid Flies and their larvae

For Use In

bird baths old automobile tires rain barrels ponds abandoned or unused swimming pools (particularly above ground types) tree holes roof gutters for collecting rainwater flower pots animal watering troughs elevator shafts basements that flood sump pumps and any drainage areas within buildings

Application

These briquets/dunks may be used in all types of mosquito breeding areas. To prevent briquets/dunks from being flushed out of certain treatment sites, they can be anchored using string tied through the hole in the center or staked in place.

Pre-flood treatment: If the briquets/dunks are applied to dry areas which are known or suspected to become breeding sites when flooded, such as woodland pools and abandoned swimming pools, the briquets will float to the surface when flooding occurs and start releasing the active Bti material. Alternate wetting and drying will not reduce their effectiveness.

BTI Mosquito Briquettes

Kill Mosquito Larvae With Bactimos BTI Mosquito Dunks

Bactimos BTI Mosquito Dunks are formulated to release effective levels of BTI for a period of 30 days or more under typical environmental conditions.

The floating action of the briquets will ensure that active material is released at the surface as well as gradually settle to the bottom.

These briquets may be used in all types of mosquito breeding areas.

To prevent briquets from being flushed out of certain treatment sites, they can be anchored using string tied through the hole in the center or staked in place. Bactimos BTI Mosquito Dunks can also be used for pre-flood treatment.

If the briquets are applied to dry areas which are known or suspected to become breeding sites when flooded, such as woodland pools and abandoned swimming pools, the briquets will float to the surface when flooding occurs and start releasing the active Bti material.

Alternate wetting and drying will not reduce their effectiveness

How To Apply

Mosquito Larvae: Flooded larvae breeding sites: Use one (1) Summit B.t.i BRIQUET for up to 100 sq. ft. of surface area, regardless of depth. In water with a high organic content, such as sewage disposal systems or waste lagoons, the application rate may have to be increased to as much as four (4) times the normal dosage based upon evaluation by the user.

When larval populations are high, aquatic vegetation dense, or the water highly polluted at the time of briquet use, pre-treatment with SUMMIT MOSQUITO BITS is recommended. The briquet will then suppress larval development for up to 30 days or more. Some larvae which hatch after briquet application may partially develop before dying. Allow a minimum of 48 hours for their control.

Pre-Flood treatment: Apply one (1) Bactimos BTI Mosquito Dunks to each 100 sq. ft. of dry bed surface which is known or suspected breeding site when flooded.

Evaporative Coolers: Apply one (1) Bactimos BTI Mosquito Dunks to each 100 sq. ft. of Cooler box or for smaller Coolers refer to the table below for application rate. Outdoor Use around the Household to kill Mosquito Larvae: Bactimos BTI Mosquito Dunks can be broken into portions for use in many outdoor applications near the household, such as standing water in bird baths, old automobile tires, rain barrels, ponds, abandoned or unused swimming pools (particularly above ground types), ditches, tree holes, roof gutters for collecting rainwater, flower pots or any other location near the household where water collects and remains for periods of time.

Bactimos BTI Mosquito Dunks can be broken and used as shown in the following table, the amount dependent upon the surface area of water in the treatment site.

Preflood treatment around the Household: Apply Bactimos BTI Mosquito Dunks to any dry surface which is known to become flooded after a rain. Use the correct amount in accordance with the above dosage table.

Psychodid Fly Larvae (Filter Flies, Sewage Flies, Drain Flies): Waste Water Treatment Plants: Place Bactimos BTI Mosquito Dunks in a perforated basket, such as a minnow bait basket, and suspend the basket in the waste water stream before the water enters the trickling filter.

Keep basket continuously filled with Briquettes to ensure a steady flow of Bti into the filter. The number of Briquettes needed for continuous, effective treatment in each facility will be dependent upon the volume and flow rate of the stream. This will have to be determined by the user.

Is this product safe for other animals to drink like cats, squirels and various birds?
A shopper on Jun 17, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I use the bti in a small pond that contain goldfish. Haven’t had a fish die in the 5 years Since using it. Along with that, everything in the neighborhood drinks from it as well and they return day after day unharmed. Birds, squirrels, frogs and toads, snakes, woodchuck, skunks and raccoons. Use the bti to make traps. Fill a bucket with a little water, put some grass clippings in and put a bti dunk in. The mosquito will lay its eggs. They will die in the larvae stage

You can also break up the mosquito dunks to use smaller amounts in smaller containers.
How about a swamp cooler would they be sustainable and a swamp cooler? Sometimes I don't use the cooler for a week or two at a time and the next thing you know I got little bugs or mosquitoes flying around my apartment
Rob on Apr 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: While Bactimose is a natural bacteria we would not recommend it for a cooler that is going to have consumables in it as it will leave a residue. The best thing you can do is just pour out the cooler when storing for a long time. Mosquitoes need water so if you eliminate that then you wont have any mosquitoes coming from there.

LOVE MOSQUITO DUNKS!
Discovered mosquite disks, "dunks" MANY years ago. Could not survive happily outside without them! I plant many of my flowers, even some roses, in large container pots, always with either water reservoirs or plastic plant saucers, to catch water for the plants in the pots. Many deer, etc. in yard/woods. If I want green beans/snap beans, I have to grow them on the deck in VERY large black nursery pots, with huge plastic plant saucers under them. A cluster of 3 or 4 saucers per large pot of bean plants, for strength. A piece of Mosq dunks in each saucer. THEY ARE GREAT, and not poison!!!! So good!!!!

Death to mosquitoes...
This is the second year we have purchased our mosquito dunks from this site. We are very happy with the price and effectiveness of the product and the service is great! The mosquitoes hoping to breed in our water barrels probably don't share our enthusiasm!

Great product.
I have a retention ditch behind my house that is a skeeter breeding place. Always standing water. Since using the dunks I have noticed a significant decrease in adult mosquitoes. They seem to be doing the trick.

Dunks
Have used these for several years in my small horse water tanks (25 gal.). They absolutely won't allow Mosquito to hatch out. Horses will eat them sometimes, does'nt hurt them. Started putting the dunks in bird feeder cages. They last longer and the horses don't eat them.
