Hyvar X-L Herbicide
Hyvar X-L Herbicide is a systemic pre-emergent and early post-emergent herbicide used to kill hard-to-control annual, perennial, and brush weeds.
Hyvar X-L Herbicide, manufactured by Bayer Environmental Science, is a powerful, non-selective herbicide intended to eliminate stubborn weeds and grasses from unwanted areas.
This flowable liquid delivers pre- and early post-emergent control of tough weeds and undesirable grasses. It is water-soluble, allowing it to be absorbed through the roots of the plants, providing efficient control of hard-to-kill plants like weeds and woody plants.
Hyvar X-L Herbicide is a particularly useful systemic herbicide against many broadleaf and grassy weeds, like dandelions. Its low use rate and versatility in application as either diluted or undiluted make it an economic herbicide.
Tools Needed:
For small-scale use of Hyvar, we recommend using a pump sprayer, a backpack sprayer, or a hose-end sprayer. For large-scale use, you can apply this product using a spray rig or boom sprayer.
How To Use:
- Step 1: Determine how much Hyvar X-L to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, you will need to measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet, then multiply them together (length x width = square footage). To get acreage, you will need to take the square footage and divide by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). For broadcast applications, Hyvar X-L Herbicide should be applied at a rate or 3/4 of a gallon to 12 gallons per acre, depending on the weed that needs to be controlled in at least 25 gallons of water.
- Step 2: Fill your sprayer halfway with water, then measure out the required amount of Hyvar based on the controlled weed and add it to the tank. Fill the tank with the remaining amount of water, thoroughly agitate the sprayer, and you're ready to apply.
- Step 3: Apply the mixture to the target areas. After application, rainfall or water must activate this product.
- Step 4: Follow label instructions regarding re-application, as the application rates will vary depending on the grass type and the annual rainfall.
Where to Use:
Hyvar X-L Herbicide should be applied in areas for general weed control where plants are not desired on: uncultivated non-agricultural areas (such as airports, highway, railroad and utility rights-of-way, sewage disposal areas); uncultivated agricultural areas (non-crop producing, which includes: farmyards, fuel storage areas, fence rows, barrier strips); industrial sites (outdoor, such as lumberyards, pipeline and tank farms such as highways, parking lots, industrial buildings, and more. This product can also be used in special areas such as pond linings, or under concrete and highway shoulders.
When to Use:
This product can be used either as a pre-emergence or early post-emergence spray when weeds are actively germinating or growing or before the plants or weeds have grown. The application rates can vary, so it is important to read the label for proper instructions for your specific application.
Safety Information:
Hyvar X-L Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Take every precaution necessary to reduce wind drift; otherwise, this product could damage non-target plants and trees.
Special Considerations:
Hyvar X-L Herbicide is versatile and straightforward to use, but it will damage or harm any plant that comes into contact with it. It is essential to carefully plan and apply this product so that other non-target plants are not exposed. This product does not need to be diluted with water, but it always needs to be watered after application to enter the plants' roots.
