Cutrine Plus Granular Algaecide

Take Care Of Aquatic Weeds and Algae With Cutrine Plus Granular Algaecide

Cutrine Plus Granular Algaecide is an algaecide from Applied Biochemists and has the capacity to quickly eliminate acres of troublesome bottom growing algae, particulary Chara, Nitella, Filamentous, and Hydrilla. When under control, algae is serves a useful purpose in their environments, from stabilizing sediments to providing food for fish, birds, and other aquatic life. However, algae can grow to out of control rates, interfering with recreational uses of the affected area as well as hurting the resident aquatic life. That is where Cutrine Plus Granular Algaecide comes in, offering 5 to 6 weeks of algae control. When treating the body of water, only treat 1/3 of the area at a time to avoid oxygen depletion of the water, which could be fatal to the fish population. Safe to use with no water use restrictions when used as directed on the label. Use Cutrine Plus for clear and clean water.

Cutrine Plus Granular Algaecide is Easy To Use With No mixing or spraying Required.

Cutrine Plus Granular Algaecide has the ability to controls a broad range of algae in lakes, ponds, fish hatcheries, irrigation canals and drainage ditches. Cutrine Plus Granular Algaecide is hard water stable.  Far less corrosive than other common algaecides.

Begins starts working immediately upon contact to break down algaes cellular structure.  From tests and trials, it has been shown that Cutrine Plus can control Planktonic Algae in 1 to 2 days, Filamentous Algae in 3 to 4 days.

The earlier you treat the excess algae growth the better. If you treat your algae when growth first appears, this will drastically reduce the amount of Cutrine Plus Granular Algaecide you need for season long control.  Early treatment will also reduce the amount of dead growth.

Cutrine Plus Granular Algaecide can control algae on a body of water between the span of several weeks to several months, depending on the type of algae and local conditions.  Multiple applications may need to be required to maintain season long control on Planktonic and Filamentous Algae.  Re-apply Cutrine Plus Granular Algaecide as new growth reappears.  Allow 1 to 2 weeks between consecutive treatments.

Heavy, out of control growth may require more than one treatment or physical removal to gain control.  Use under conditions of minimal water flow.  For best results, apply early on the morning of a calm, sunny day with water temperature of 60 degrees Fahrenheit or warmer.  Contact time should be at least 3 hours.  Bright sunlight will improve effectiveness.

You can also use Cutrine Plus Granular Algaecide as a convenient spot treatment of sections of a pond or lake front.

Cutrine Plus Granular Algaecide will deliver a layer or blanket of algaecide  2 to 3 feet thick over the area treated.  Cat litter-size granules quickly settle through water onto algae.  Easily control early season bottom growth of Chara and Filamentous Algae.  Granules settling on floating mats of Filamentous Algae will control surface growth to a depth of 2 to 3 feet.

Cutrine Plus Granular Algaecide is A Solid Algaecide Product

Cutrine-Plus Granular is ideal for treating bottom-growing algae such as Chara.  Treat Chara in spring and summer when weed is soft and supple.  Mature Chara will become calcified or lime-encrusted (gritty) in hard water.  Calcified Chara is very difficult to control.  Treat early.  A single, early season application of Cutrine-Plus Granular will usually control Chara for the entire season.

Cutrine Plus also comes in the liquid form - Cutrine Plus Algaecide which is great for surface algae.

This Cutrine Plus product, which comes in a granular formulation, is ideal for bottom growing filamentous algae, Chara and Nitella. Liquid version must be diluted prior to use while the granular form is ready to use.

To help penetrate the natural waxy tissue barrier of plants, use a surfactant such as Alligare 90 Wetting Agent

To avoid drift so that you don't spray desirable plants, use a marking dye such as Vision Pond Dye, so you can see where you have sprayed. The marking dye easily washes away.

As always, stay safe when applying chemicals with the help of our Homeowner Chemical Safety Kit

Have a customer with a pond has filamentous algae. Will this take care of it?
Mr JB on Sep 5, 2017
1. Identify form(s) of targeted bottom-growing algae
(Chara / Nitella or Filamentous) or Hydrilla.
2. Estimate the height of targeted plant growth (in ft.) in
the water column. This would be the distance from
bottom to top of plants.
3. Calculate surface area (acres) of the treatment area
(area of infestation) using the following formula:
Length (ft.) x Width (ft.)
43,560 = Surface Acre(s)
4. Refer to Table 1 to determine lbs. of CUTRINE-PLUS
GRANULAR ALGAECIDE to apply per surface acre
based upon type and height of targeted growth.

Works like a Charm
Used this as soon as it arrived in the mail, which was faster than I expected. I followed the instructions for the right dosage and used a hand held sprayer, with the solution diluted in water. I have a .15 acre pond, with a light algae infestation. Within 2 days my pond was clean as a whistle, the turtles and little fishies are swimming around happily. More than satisfied me.
