Altosid Pro G Mosquito Larvacide

Altosid Pro G Mosquito Larvicide, manufactured by Zoecon, is an effective IGR (insect growth regulator) product for mosquito control. It stops a new generation of pesky mosquitoes from growing and creating problems.

This granular product disrupts the life cycle of larvae mosquitoes through the active ingredient (S)-Methoprene 1.5%, which effectively kills mosquitoes before they hatch or genetically deforms them so they can't reproduce.

Altosid Pro G Mosquito Larvacide offers mosquito control in your backyard and other labeled areas with extended residual control, providing up to 30 days of protection from diseases-carrying mosquitoes in standing water.

Tools Needed

This product comes ready to use with its convenient shaker top for easier application; thus, no additional application tools are needed.

If you do decide to measure the product with food utensils like tablespoons or measuring cups, then DO NOT USE AFTER USE WITH INSECTICIDES.

How to Use

• Step 1: Analyze your yard and observe areas where you have seen stagnant water or water accumulation. Determine how much Altosid Pro G Mosquito Larvacide to use by measuring the square footage of the water's surface area or dry land site where water accumulates and water volume. To find square footage, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet, then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). To find water volume, measure the length, width, and depth of the labeled water site, then multiply (length X width X depth = water volume). Depending on the treatment area surface area or square footage (which is considered less than 2 ft. deep of water) or a dryland area where water usually accumulates and water volume, the application rates will vary. The lowest application rate is to use 1/4 tsp. of Altosid Pro G Mosquito Larvacide per 13 sq. ft. of surface area/treatment area and water volumes of 50 gallons. The highest application rate you can use is 1 cup of product per 2,400 sq. ft. of surface area/treatment area and water volumes of 9,600 gallons. For more specific rates, refer to the label.
• Step 2: Empty and discard small containers holding water to increase mosquito control. In instances where small containers cannot be overturned or discarded and for locations such as flower pots, old tires, urns, etc., use approximately 80 granules of product for every gallon of water. With a gloved hand, scatter the measured amount of Altosid Pro G Mosquito Larvacide evenly over the surface of the water to be treated or where it usually floods in your yard.
• Step 3: For continued mosquito control, apply the appropriate amount of product every 30 days throughout the active mosquito season.

Where to Use

Altosid Pro G Mosquito Larvacide should ideally be applied in water where mosquitoes breed in non-crop areas and crop areas.

Examples of crop areas include irrigated croplands, pastures, rangeland, vineyards, rice fields (domestic and wild), date palms, citrus, fruit, nut orchards, berry fields, and bogs. This product may be applied non-crop areas like snow pools, salt and tidal marshes, freshwater swamps and marshes (cattail, red cedar, white maple marshes), woodland pools and meadows, dredging spoil sites, drainage areas, ditches, wastewater treatment facilities, livestock runoff lagoons, retention ponds, harvested timber stacks, swales, stormwater drainage areas, sewers, catch basins, tree holes, animal watering troughs, water-holding receptacles (e.g., tires, urns, flower pots, cans, and other containers), and other natural and manmade water-holding depressions.

Altosid Pro G Mosquito Larvacide can also be applied to dry land sites where it usually floods immediately.

When to Use

Use when mosquitoes are active, especially after rainfall. It may also be used when water has accumulated in many different areas around your yard, such as bird baths, puddles, ditches, old tires, etc.

Safety Information

Altosid Pro G Mosquito Larvacide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling and applying this product.

Special Considerations

It should be noted that this product is not meant for use in pools. If you regularly chlorinate your swimming pool and maintain proper pool maintenance, mosquitoes should not be able to breed in your pool.

Applying Altosid Pro-G Mosquito Larvacide to sites subject to water flow or exchange will diminish the product's effectiveness. Higher application rates and/or more frequent applications may be required.
