Tempo 1% Dust Insecticide
Tempo 1% Dust Insecticide
Tempo 1% Dust Insecticide, manufactured by Bayer, is a ready to use insecticide dust that provides immediate pest control against stinging and flying insects with little application effort.
Formulated with the active ingredient cyfluthrin 1%, which attacks the pests nerves either through contact or ingesting allowing for a faster kill of pests like hornets, silverfish, and more. Simply dust this product in labeled sites such as around homes and stores or directly into tight voids with its easy puffer design for long-lasting insect control.
Tempo 1% Dust Insecticide has excellent penetration into hard-to-reach indoor and outdoor surfaces ensuring equal coverage at minimum application rates. This all around dust insecticide provides a 10 day residual effect against a variety of perimeter pests like ants or wasps without staining treated sites.
Tools Needed
To apply Tempo 1% Dust Inseciticide, you will need a handheld duster or power duster.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Tempo 1% Dust Inseciticide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). Apply 0.5 to 1 lb. of Tempo 1% Dust Insecticide per 1,000 sq. ft. For ant mounds, use 2 teaspoons of product per mound.
- Step 2: Remove the rubber top of the duster and then fill the duster half-way with Tempo 1% Dust Insecticide and place the rubber top back on the duster and flip it over so that the bulb is facing down and the straw is above it.
- Step 3: Remove the tip of the straw and gently squeeze the bulb of the duster. When applying Tempo 1% Dust Insecticide make sure the applications are light and uniform. Ideally you shouldn't see visible powder where applied. Apply dust in cracks and crevices, wall voids, and around plumbing. For ant mound applications, avoid disturbing the mound before applying. If possible, treat all colonies in the area. Distribute the product evenly over each mound and around the perimeter of the mound (about 18 inches from the outer edge) use the higher rates for larger mounds. For best results, water mounds gently after applying. High water pressure will cause the ants to move the mound.
- Step 4: Reapply Tempo 1% Dust Insecticide every 7 to 10 days as needed for continuous pest activity.
Where to Use
Tempo 1% Dust Insecticide can be used indoors and outdoors of animal quarters and kennels, apartment buildings, bakeries, bottling facilities, breweries, cafeterias, candy plants, cereal processing and manufacturing plants, correctional facilities, dairies and dairy product processing plants, day care centers, food plants, grain mills, granaries, greenhouses (structures only), grocery stores and supermarkets, hospitals (see restrictions), hotels and motels, houses, industrial buildings and installations, kitchens, laboratories, livestock housing structures, manufacturing establishments, mausoleums, pet kennels, meat and produce canneries, mobile homes and recreational vehicles, nursing homes (see restrictions), pickle factories, restaurants, schools (see restrictions), spice plants, stores and institutions, theaters, utility vaults and conduits, warehouses, wineries and similar structures, zoos, transportation vessels such as aircraft (see restrictions), buses, trucks, trailers, rail cares, and marine vessels.

When to Use

Keith's Pro Tips | "Most insecticide dusts come with an applicator tip on the top of the bottle. This can be used to make some applications, but will not be as effective as using a handheld or power duster. Using a duster will push the dust further into wall voids and in areas where wood boring insects hide. " |
Product Drawbacks | Tempo 1% Dust Insecticide is not effective against flies or mosquitoes, because the most likely will not come in contact with dusted areas. For these insects, we suggest using an insecticide spray that provides a residual effect, such as Flex 10-10. |

The 2-Step treatment was really effective. I don’t think you really need to pay for the expensive spray. The Tempo dust price is reasonable and will probably be more than I can use for household use for 20-years. It does appear effective at treating for other pests as well.

Q:Does it kills bees , wasps?9/29/19A:Yes it kills both. I had a major nest under the siding and used this with the duster device and it wiped out the colony in 2 days. This isn't to kill a random wasp or even the little nests you find on porch railings... use the $3 spray can for that. This is to kill nests underground, behind siding, etc where you can't necessarily see it. Just puff the dust in and bees/wasps/any bug will suffocate eventually. Within a day you will see dead bugs near any opening. This is professional grade stuff, so wear gloves/goggles/mask. At this size, it will last the average homeowner's life. If you can buy this brand in a smaller container, get that instead. Or pass this around to friends/family because it will last years and years.
