Bio Advanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub Insect Control, manufactured by Bayer, is a landscape formula that helps to prevent insect infestation within trees and shrubs.
This product contains the active ingredient 2.94% imidacloprid, which works well against aphids, ash borers, leafminers, scale, Japanese Beetles, whiteflies, and many other common tree and shrub-invading pests.
Bio Advanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub is a strong concentrate that helps reduce the amount of application to trees and shrubs to once a year. You will need to wait a year after application before applying again. This formula is easy to use and safe for trees and shrubs.
Tools Needed
This product can be applied with a handheld pump sprayer or backpack sprayer. You will also need a flexible measuring tape to measure the size of the tree and/or shrub.
How to Use
- Step 1: Measure the size of the tree or shrub you intend to treat to determine how much product you will need to use. To do this, measure the distance around the tree trunk or the shrub's height. Measure the distance in inches around the tree trunk at chest height, and multiply the number of inches by 0.5 to find how much product you need. If there are multiple tree trunks, add their measurements together, then multiply by 0.375. For example, if one tree has four trunks and measures 20, 10, and 5 inches or a total of 40 inches (40 X .375 = 15 ounces of product to use). For every half ounce of product used, you will want to mix it with 1 gallon of water. If your tree trunk exceeds 50", then use 2 gallons of water. For shrubs, you will use 1.5 fl. oz. per foot of shrub height.
- Step 2: To mix, you will want to fill your sprayer halfway with water, add the required amount of Bio Advanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub needed, and then fill the rest with water. Close the lid and shake until the mixture is even.
- Step 3: Slowly apply the spray mixture as close to the main stem of the trunk or shrub as possible. You should also apply your solution evenly around the tree or shrub.
- Step 4: Refill the sprayer with clean water and pour it around the trunk of the tree or shrub's stem.
Where to Use
Bio Advanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub is used on non-crop or ornamental trees or shrubs distanced from water.
When to Use
This product can be used any time of the year, preferably on dry or humid days, to avoid waterlogging or frozen ground. For best results, the spray mixture will work best in the fall when insects are less active. You want to water the tree or shrub well the night before application during prolonged dry periods.

Bio Advanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub is safe to use around children and pets when applied following label directions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Keep children and pets out of treated areas until the spray completely dries.
Special Considerations
Bio Advanced 12 Month Tree & Shrub is not recommended to use on linden, basswood, or other tilia species of trees.
