Pelletized Soft Gypsum
Pelletized Soft Gypsum, manufactured by Nitro-Phos, is a natural soil conditioner that contains Gypsum, which is used to acidify the soil and dislodges sodium which can make soil hard.
A treatment of Pelletized Soft Gypsum to your lawn can stimulate growth in your lawn plants and helps develop deep root systems to produce healthier plants and lawns capable of surviving the hot summer months. This easy to use product loosens heavy, dense and water-impervious clay soils to enable better rooting with less watering and fertilizing.
Pelletized Soft Gypsum also helps with combating the effects of winter de-icing salt accumulation. Use it if you have issues with your soil being to hard. It is non-toxic and will not harm your lawn in any amount.
Tools Needed
To use Pelletized Soft Gypsum, you will need a broadcast spreader to spread the granules. You could use a hand spreader or a push spreader.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Pelletized Soft Gypsum to use by calculating the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width in feet then multiply together (length X width = square footage). The general application rate is 40 lbs. per 800 square feet, depending on soil conditions.
- Step 2: Calibrate your spreader to the right spreader setting for application. Once calibrated, load up your selected spreader with measured amount of Pelletized Soft Gypsum.
- Step 3: Apply the granules evenly across the area you wish to treat. You may need to pass through twice to get nice even coverage. Walk at a steady pace and on the second pass through, walk perpendicularly (at a right angle) from the first pass through.
- Step 4: Water the soil thoroughly after application.
Where to Use
Pelletized Soft Gypsum can be applied on established lawns, news lawns, gardens, shrubs and evergreens. Each type of setting has it's own specific application instructions.
When to Use
Pelletized Soft Gypsum can be used any time of the year in any season, but may work best in spring or fall.
Safety Information
Pelletized Soft Gypsum is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling and applying this product.
Keep pets and children off the treated area until dry.
