Keith's Pro Tips

"When it comes to pest control we like to say, 'an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.' The same goes for your equipment. Staying on top of your quarterly or yearly maintenance and having the parts you need will prevent any unwanted downtime."

B&G Parts & Repair Equipment

B&G Equipment, such as Primeline Sprayers and Termite Tools, are built to last, but it’s inevitable that even the best equipment will take some wear and over time. Solutions Pest & Lawn is your one-stop-shop for everything you need to make sure you get the most out of every product you buy from us.

Most B&G parts are made specifically for B&G equipment, so it is unlikely that you will find replacement parts at hardware stores. We carry a full inventory of replacement parts for our B&G offerings. Usually, a simple replacement part will have your broken down sprayer working like new again, saving you hundreds if not thousands of dollars.

Our Recommendation

We recommend two kits that are a must-have for any applicator who uses B&G pump sprayers regularly. These are the B&G Gasket Repair Kit and the B&G Strainer Kit. These two kits contain essential parts that will fix a variety of the most common B&G sprayer issues, from clogs to leaks.

User Guide

The B&G Gasket Repair Kit and the B&G Strainer Kit together will fix most typical operation issues that both PCOs and serious DIYers who use B&G sprayers might encounter. Some of the most common issues B&G sprayer users run into are clogged lines and screens, leaks, and minor pressure issues. The parts included in these two kits can rebuild one B&G pump sprayer with ease.

Step 1: Disassembly

To install the new replacement parts, you will first need to disassemble your B&G Sprayer. This can be quick or take some time depending on the part that needs replacing and where it is located. When utilizing a kit where you are replacing multiple worn parts, it's best to do a full disassembly by following the manual instructions for details on how to disassemble and in what order.

Step 2: Replace Parts

Once your sprayer has been taken apart, installation of the new parts are simple. Remove the old parts and pieces and replace them with the new parts and make sure to tighten securely in place.

Step 3: Reassembly and Testing

After the parts have been replaced, reassemble the sprayer. You should then test out the sprayer with clean water to see if the equipment parts are working as intended. In some cases, parts may have been put on incorrectly or not tightly enough. If so, you would have to disassemble the sprayer again to pinpoint the part that needs adjustment. If you perform a test spraying and all is well, you have successfully completed part replacement.

Inspection and Maintenance

It is always a good idea to check and maintain your equipment. Typically, we recommend that B&G sprayer users inspect their sprayer and its parts quarterly or annually, depending on use. It is always best to inspect the parts and replace any worn gaskets, screens, or seals before you reach operation failure. These parts are considered wear and tear parts, meaning that it is common for these parts to degrade over time through normal operational use.

Regular Cleaning

A common issue users face are clogged lines. This usually happens due to a dirty or blocked strainer screen. The strainer screen is located within the valve extension, where the extenda-ban handle connects to the sprayer hose. This screen will collect dirt and other debris that might accidentally be mixed with your solution before it travels through the wand to be sprayed.

To clean the strainer screen, simply remove it from the valve extension by disconnecting the extenda-ban wand from the hose. Clean the screen with a wire brush or water, being careful not to damage the screen. If the screen is beyond repair, it can be replaced with the screen found in the B&G Strainer Kit.

Inspect Gaskets, Washers, etc.

You will need to take some time to check the remaining parts of the sprayer for signs of damage, erosion, or fragility. These parts range in material from polypropylene, viton rubber, and nylon. As hardy and reliable as these parts are, they will weaken over time, especially when caustic and oil-based products are used in the sprayer.

When you are checking the parts, check for any cracks and erosion. The B&G Gasket Repair Kit contains each of the main components for quick and easy replacement.

Key Takeaways

  • It is important to always due routine maintenance and inspections of equipment before they go bad. We usually recommend doing this every three months or at least once a year. This is dependent on use.
  • Always consider the chemicals you are using with your sprayer and other equipment. Caustic and oil-based products are likely to deteriorate most gaskets and seals quicker than water-based or other less corrosive materials. If you use ECs or products like herbicides often, you will want to inspect and replace your parts on a regular basis for top performance.
