Tools Needed
To apply Talstar PL Insecticide Granules, a handheld spreader, push spreader or some type of spreading device that will make an even application is needed. When applying to small areas, a handheld spreader is recommended.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Talstar you will need by first calculating the size of area being treated. You can do this by measuring the length and width of your yard, then multiplying those numbers together (length x width = square footage). Talstar can be appledb etween 1.15 lbs to 4.6 lbs per 1,000 sq. ft. depending on the pest you wish to treat. For example, if you are treating for Armyworms and measured a 2,500 sq. ft. lawn, you would need 2.875 lbs of Talstar to cover the area.
- Step 2: Pour the required amount of Talstar LP Insecticide Granules in the spreader and set the spreader settings according to label, which will be determined by the type of spreader equipment being used.
- Step 3: When using a push spreader walk with a steady pace making sure the granules are dispersed evenly on targeted areas. You may have to do two perpendicular passes to get even coverage. Afterward, water the soil with about 1/2 inch of water, unless rain is in the forecast.
- Step 4: Reapply every 2 to 4 months and do not apply more than 100 pounds per acre.
Where to Use
Talstar PL Insecticide Granules are great for residential lawns, industrial sites, parks, sports fields, and cemeteries. It can be used as a foundation perimeter treatment around building structures, and as a boundary treatment for ornamental gardens, pavement cracks, fence lines, vegetation and areas with mulch. Talstar PL Granules cannot be used on golf courses, sod farms, nurseries, commercial greenhouses or seed harvesting grass.
When to Use
Talstar PL Insecticide Granules can be applied anytime during the year to control various types of insects. Reapplications can be made every 2 to 4 months for continuous control.

Q:Is telstar safe for pets?9/22/18A:Because Talstar works so incredibly well, we would do nearly anything to keep using it. Thankfully, we only have to keep the dogs off the treated area for a day. I called Solutions Pest & Lawn to ask about the dogs and was told I could lightly water down the Talstar and the dogs would be unaffected. We did that the first year but later found that just keeping them off of the treated area for a day & night worked and we have ZERO bugs in our yard for 3 months at a time.

Q:should talstar be watered when applied as preventative measure when insects not evident?6/10/18A:I have started doing this on a regular(ish) 5 month cycle, and have had great results. Grasshoppers were destroying out garden, ants devoured our peaches, and all kinds of other bugs were having their way with our property. Now, i have only seen 3 grasshoppers this year. Last year, when I walked around, a wave of grasshoppers would be jumping away from me. I would say yes to your question, depending on how bad your bug problems are. I hope that helps.

Q:Hi, I am in Texas. Does it take care of the spiders too?3/17/18A:Shyam: It takes care of spiders that crawl onto your house from the ground. The granules are not effective against spiders that blow onto your house from trees, etc. using their web strands. You would need Talstar liquid concentrate diluted properly and sprayed on spider infested areas. Knock the webs down prior to spraying. This combination will eliminate spiders.

Q:why does it show to water in the talstar Pl when it shows to water in on the attached movie insert5/7/16A:Hi JR. You water in Talstar PL to wash the bifenthrin off of the granule and get it down to the soil level where the insects live. The sand the product is on is just a carrier to make application easier. The goal is to get the active ingredient to the soil level so it can kill the pests.
