Riptide Pyrethrum Insecticide, manufactured by MGK, is a water-based insecticide concentrate that uses a powerful combination of pyrethrins and PBO to control many insects.

Pyrethrins are natural insecticides derived from the chrysanthemum plant and work by attacking the insect's central nervous system. Riptide Pyrethrum Insecticide has a quick knockdown (within 1 hour after fogging), is labeled for use in many different areas, and is even for use on certain animals.

Riptide Pyrethrum Insecticide can efficiently control many different pests, such as flying insects, cockroaches, and pantry pests. If you are looking for an insecticide that quickly kills pests and is low-toxicity, Riptide is a solid option.

Tools Needed:

This product can be applied using many different applicators. For small-volume applications, you can use a hand pump sprayer, a backpack sprayer, or a hose-end sprayer. For large-volume applications, you can use a spray rig, a ULV Fogger, or an automatic misting system.

How to Use:

  • Step 1: Identify which pests you intend to control and what areas they harbor in and traverse through. You should then calculate the square footage or cubic footage of the area to be treated to determine how much Riptide you will need. To find square footage, measure the treatment areas' length and width in feet and multiply them together (length x width = square footage). For cubic feet, measure and multiply the length, width, and height together (length x width x height = cubic feet). For indoor surface applications, use Riptid at a rate of 3 fl. oz. per gallon of water to treat 1,000 sq. ft. If using a ULV fogger, 1 to 2 fl. oz. of diluted product can treat 1,000 cubic feet. For misting systems, the rate suggested is 1.16 fl. oz. of concentrate per gallon of water or a 1/2 gallon per 55-gallon drum.
  • Step 2: Fill your sprayer halfway with water. Measure the appropriate amount of product and add it to the sprayer. Fill the sprayer with the remaining amount of water, screw on the lid, and thoroughly agitate your sprayer and you're ready to apply.
  • Step 3: Apply the product in the areas with pest activity. Spray in cracks and crevices, along the trails the pests frequent, and directly on any pests you see. Refer to the label for specific instructions regarding your desired treatment areas.
  • Step 4: Reapply as needed, following label instructions regarding your application type and pest type, as this can vary the rate of repeat application.

Where to Use:

Fogging with Riptide in a ULV blower

Riptide killing empire zoysia in south florida
I have been using riptide in my Mistaway mosquito system for 2 years now. I am noticing that the nozzles near my grass has been killing my empire zoysia grass. Is there a better product Sector? That won’t kill my grass?

My go-to insecticide for my Mosquito Misting System
I have a MistAway system and there's no other liquid that I use on it other than Riptide. I just fill and schedule my mists and it keeps all those mosquitoes away all summer long so I can enjoy my yard and cookout. I'll be back when I need a refill, that's for sure.
