Riptide Pyrethrum Insecticide
Riptide Pyrethrum Insecticide
Riptide is manufactured by MGK and is a water-based insecticide concentrate that uses a powerful combination of pyrethrins and PBO to control many different kinds of insects. Pyrethrins are a natural insecticide that is derived from the chrysanthemum plant and works by attacking the insect's central nervous system.
Riptide has a quick knockdown (within 1 hour after fogging) and is labeled for use in many different areas, and is even for use on certain animals. Riptide can offer efficient control for many different needs such as flying insects, cockroaches and pantry pests. If you are looking for an insecticide that quickly kills pests and has low toxicity, Riptide is a solid option.
Tools Needed:
Riptide can be applied using many different applicators. For small volume applications, you can use a hand pump sprayer, a backpack sprayer, or a hose-end sprayer. For large volume application, you can apply using a spray rig, a ULV Fogger or an automatic misting system.
How to Use:
- Step 1: Identify which pests you intent to control, and what areas they harbor in and traverse through. You should then calculate the square footage or cubic footage of the area to be treated to determine how much Riptide you will need. To do this measure (in feet) the area length and width and multiply the values for square footage (length x width = square footage) or measure and multiply the length, width and height (length x width x height = cubic feet). For indoor surface applications, use Riptid at a rate of 3 fl. oz. per gallon of water to treat 1,000 sq. ft. If using a ULV fogger, 1 to 2 fl. oz. of diluted product can treat 1,000 cubic feet. For misting systems, the rate suggested is 1.16 fl. oz. of concentrate per gallon of water or a 1/2 gallon per 55 gallon drum.
- Step 2: Fill your sprayer halfway with water. Measure out the appropriate amount of Riptide and add it to the sprayer. Fill the sprayer with the remaining amount of water, screw on the lid, and thoroughly agitate your sprayer and you're ready to apply.
- Step 3: Apply the product in the areas with pest activity. Spray in cracks and crevices, along the trails the pests frequent, and directly on any pests you see. Refer to the label for specific instructions regarding your desired treatment areas.
- Step 4: Reapply as needed, following label instructions regarding your application type and pest type, as this can vary the rate of repeat application.
Where to Use:
Riptide can be used in a wide variety of different locations, such as in homes, around foundations of structures, in cracks and crevices, even applied to certain animals and livestock to kill insects on them. Indoors, they can be used around Animal Shelters, Bathrooms, Beverage Plants, Buildings, Canneries, Cattle Barns, Crawl Spaces, Dairy Barns, Diners, Factories, Garages, Grocery Stores, Horse Stables, Hospitals, Hotels, Kennels, Nursing Homes, Office Buildings, Poultry Houses, Restaurants, Schools, Warehouses, Zoos. Outdoors, they can be used on Athletic Fields, Lawns, Campgrounds, Fair Grounds, Gazebos, Golf Courses, Kennels, Parks, Patios, Playgrounds, Ranges, Rest Areas, Tennis Courts, Truck Stops, Zoos.
When to Use:
Apply Riptide either during the first signs of pest activity or during an active infestation. The sooner you begin treatment, the less time the pests will have to reproduce and be harder to control.
Safety Information:
Riptide Pyrethrum Insecticide is safe to use when applied according to label directions. It is important to always wear proper personal protective equipment any time you handle the chemical, measure and mix the chemical, and apply the chemical. Keep all pets and people (unless the animal is being treated) out of the area until the product has completely dried. Do not apply this product to water, or in areas where it can be carried away in runoff before it has dried
Special Considerations:
Be sure to cover any foodstuffs and aquariums or birdcages when applying indoors. Riptide Pyrethrin Insecticide has a wide use label, but it is still important to read the instructions regarding your application site before applying to ensure proper treatment.
