Advion Fire Ant Bait Insecticide
Advion Fire Ant Bait Insecticide
Advion Fire Ant Bait Insecticide is a effective granular insecticide bait designed to get rid of aggressive ants in lawns, golf courses, and other non-grazed areas within a few days.
Advion Fire Ant Bait, manufactured by Syngenta, is a professional Indoxacarb granular insecticide bait offering rapid control over fire ants, pavement ants, and other ant species.
Ensures total control against ants in 24 to 72 hours for entire ant colony elimination by either contact or ingestion from foraging ants. Due to its ability to bring ant populations under control in less than 3 days and work at the direct moment of contact makes this product faster than any other ant baits on the market.
Advion Fire Ant Bait provides superior ant control with an alluring granular formulation in lawns, golf courses, and recreational areas.
Tools Needed
To apply Advion Fire Ant Bait you will need a granular spreader. A handheld or broadcast spreader should work fine for smaller applications. This product can be applied as both a broadcast treatment and to individual mounds.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Advion Fire Ant Bait to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply them together (length x width = square footage). Apply 0.5 oz. of Advion Fire Ant Bait per 1,000 sq. ft. or 1.5 lbs. of product per acre. To treat individual ant mounds, apply 4 level tablespoons (0.5 oz) of product per mound.
- Step 2: Load your granule spreader with Advion Fire Ant Bait. Calibrate and adjust equipment prior to application to ensure that the proper rate of product will be applied.
- Step 3: Apply the Advion Fire Ant Bait uniformly on the treatment area. For broadcast treatment, this may take numerous passthrough in order to get an even spread. When treating ant mounds, applying uniformly 3 to 4 feet around the mound. Do not apply to the tops of the mound or disturb the mound during application. Retreat after 12-16 weeks if needed.
Where to Use
Advion Fire Ant Bait is labeled to be used on lawns, landscaped areas, golf courses, commercial grounds, parks, other non-cropland areas such as airports, roadsides, cemeteries, commercial grounds, parks, school grounds, picnic grounds, athletic fields, and other recreational areas, as well as grounds surrounding poultry houses (excluding runs and ranges) or corrals and other animal holding areas.
When to Use
Advion Fire Ant Bait can be applied any time of the day but the best time to apply Advion Fire Ant Bait is either early in the morning or in the evenings. It is during these peak times that fire ants are usually foraging for food. This fire ant bait may be scattered as a broadcast treatment or used on individual mounds.
If it rains within 4 hours, Advion Fire Ant Bait would not work as well, so wait for the forecast to show no rain for a couple of days.
Safety Information
Advion Fire Ant Bait is safe to use when applied according to product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when applying this product.
Do not allow pets or people to contact treated areas.
Special Considerations
Advion Fire Ant Bait comes in two sizes, a 2-pound pail suitable for multiple uses in residential homes (that should last years) or a 25-pound pail, for commercial jobs.

Q:Can this be applied to the ground near a well?1/25/20A:Have never done that, but it's is more of a topical thing, so personally, I don't think it would hurt a well. They are deep and this stuff stays on top of the ground.

Q:How often does Advion need to be applied? How long will it last?9/25/19A:I applied it whenever I saw an ant mound in the yard. The most important thing is to apply it when it's not going to rain for a while (at least 24 hrs) – hard to do in summer in Florida. Using spot applications it worked great and I didn't worry about how long it lasted as long as the mound disappeared. I didn't do my whole yard at once because that would've taken more time and more Advion, I solved my problem with spot applications over a few weeks and have been ant-free for over a year.

Q:We have free range chickens. Is this safe to use in the area they’re free ranging in?9/15/19A:Label says 'Do not allow livestock or domestic animals to consume the bait.' If you keep the chickens out of the treamant area for a day or two the ants will probably consume the bait quickly. Alternatively, the chickens will probably eat the ants if allowed to range in the area!

Q:Broadcast Treatments Calibrate and adjust equipment prior to application My property is 1 1/2 acres how much product do i need and what should I set my spreader on to calibrate it correctly and to be sure all of my propert is covered?9/5/18A:Advion is a spot on treatment. If you find an ant mound you simply sprinkle a very small amount on the mound and tomorrow they are gone. Its not for broadcast spreaders. Greg

Q:How long does bait stay active on ground?8/24/18A:Ideally if you apply the Advion Fire Ant Bait, in the early morning or evening times when fire ants are foraging, 99 % of the bait will be picked up and taken back to the colonies. When to apply Advion Fire Ant Bait should be applied at the first sign of imported fire ant, bigheaded ant, pavement ant or turfgrass ant activity. Applications may be made at any time of the day, but are more effective when ants are actively foraging, usually when the soil surface temperature is above 60° F. Up to 4 applications of Advion Fire Ant Bait may be applied per year. These are generally applied at 12 to 16 week intervals. However, rainfall or irrigation within 2 to 3 hours after application may reduce the effectiveness of Advion Fire Ant Bait and a repeat application within 7 days may be necessary to achieve the desired level of control. Do not apply if the area to be treated is wet with dew, irrigation or rainfall. SPECIFIC USE DIRECTIONS Broadcast Treatments Make application with broadcast equipment capable of applying 1.5 pounds of Advion Fire Ant Bait per acre. Calibrate and adjust equipment prior to application to ensure that the proper rate of product will be applied. Retreat after 12-16 weeks if needed. Individual Mound Treatments Do not disturb the mound. Do not apply to tops of mound. Apply 4 level tablespoons (0.5 oz) of Advion Fire Ant Bait per mound, uniformly distributing the product 3-4 feet around the mound. Retreat after 12-16 weeks if needed. Individual mound treatments: Application Sites, Pest Controlled are the same as those listed below.

Q:Can I use indoors?6/18/18A:Absolutely Not. Read the label. It is on the package and on the website. Indoors is not a labeled site use. Pesticide use contrary to labeling is against the law and leaves you open to lawsuit and health risk. Fire ants indoors is rare, but not unheard of. This bait does not work for every kind of ant. You can find ant baits with indoxocarb. Check with your Cooperative Extension agent for more specific help.

Q:When should advion fire ant bait be applied?3/24/18A:The best time to apply is when ants are actively foraging. When the temperatures start to get warm the ant will move closer to the surface and start to look for food. A good test is to place a piece of candy or chip on top of the mound or close to it if you see fast activity then they are active. This would be a good time to apply the bait.
