Solutions Tree Watering Bag, manufactured by Solutions, is a slow release, self-watering bag that securely attaches itself around trees from 1 to 8 inches in trunk diameter with its heavy duty zipper.

This heavy duty tree watering bag can hold up to 20 gallons of water and has an excellent quality seal to ensure the garden hose securely fits. Constructed to slowly deliver water between 8 to 10 hours for continuous and even water distribution without fear of over-watering.

Solutions Tree Watering Bag offers easy installation by simply being wrapped around new or existing trees, then filling with water. As a result, trees are given the exact amount of irrigation required while giving homeowners or business owners more time to perform other tasks.

Tools Needed

Solutions Tree Watering Bag require no additional application tools. You may need a tape measurer or tree scale stick to determine your tree trunks diameter and a garden hose to fill the bag with water.

How to Use

  • Step 1: Determine the diameter of your tree trunk at diameter breast height (DBH). To do this, begin by measuring 4.5 feet above the ground level. Hold the ruler or tape measurer against the tree then wrap it around the complete middle of the tree at the DBH and record your findings. Place 1 Solutions Tree Watering Bag around trees with a diameter of up to 3 inches. Zip 2 of the Solutions Tree Watering Bags together for trees 4 to 8 inches in diameter.
  • Step 2: Wrap the bag around the tree trunk with the tag facing outward and zip the ends together from bottom to top.
  • Step 3: Lift the tag, insert a hose into the opening, and begin filling with water. Fill the bag to 1/4 capacity. Drip points may squirt initially, but will slow as bag is filled.
  • Step 4: Gently lift the watering bag by the straps at the top of the bag to expand the bottom, then resume filling. Add pre-mixed water-soluble fertilizer, if desired.
  • Step 5: Fill the bag to the desired level. The bag will be empty in approximately 8 to 10 hours. Most trees will need to be watered once a week.

Where to Use

Apply on newly planted or established trees that are 1 to 8 inches in trunk diameter and the branches are at least 25 inches from the ground or higher.

When to Use

Use the Solutions Tree Watering Bag when you want to minimize your tree watering schedule and give new or established trees the exact amount of irrigation needed. They can also be used when you want to conserve water as they empty out over 8 to 10 hours.

Safety Information

Watering bags are safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling or applying pesticide materials to be used with this product or when installing the product itself.

Special Considerations

This is not intended as a permanent installation. Use them as needed for 1 to 2 grow seasons. These watering bags are easy to use and work the same way as TreeGator or TreeMate Watering Bags.

Keith's Pro Tips"The first sign of trees requiring water is visible signs of wilting, which commonly occurs in the top center portion of a tree canopy. If this is not present, then examine the dryness of the soil around the tree about 6 inches deep. If so, then this may indicate watering and a sufficient nutrient boost from a fertilizer may be needed in your Solutions Tree Watering Bags."

Great product
This product is excellent to help starting young trees. I live in an area where we have had insufficient rainfall for the past 10 years, and this slow drip system keeps water on the roots .
I love these bags
I have at least six of these bags now, and absolutely love them. When I planted my first trees a few years ago, I was following an excruciating schedule from the nursery -- the trees were establishing themselves nicely, but the daily, measured waterings were a real chore, especially when I had to leave town for a few days.

Having seen the green bags on city trees all around town, I decided to give them a try. At first I tried the Treegator Junior bag, but had problems with holes developing and found it awkward to fill. Next I got one of these, and haven't looked back!

The bag is extremely easy to fill -- you can just stick the hose in and walk away while it's working. The material is very sturdy, and has held up well through several seasons. I was concerned that I would have problems with excessive moisture against the trunk from so much plastic being in contact, but it has not been an issue so far.

And of course, the most important part: it does a really good job of watering trees. Every tree I've used this on has taken beautifully, and is far leafier and maturing faster than nearby trees that were planted at the same time.

My only complaint is that the weeping holes (through which the water drips into the root zone) do get clogged easily. The best way to avoid this seems to be tugging on the bag when it's about 1/4 full (as the manufacturer recommends) -- but also, making sure to keep a clean layer of mulch beneath it. As mulch breaks down and it gets closer to the dirt, it's much easier for the bag to become clogged. If you keep a layer of mulch that drains into the soil below, it should do much better.
My cherry tree is thriving again
This past summer we have suffered through unprecedented drought conditions. My young cherry tree was stressing. I didn't wish to stand next to the tree daily to water with a hose mainly due to water run-off. After so much watering, the water would run away. This is an issue for our clay-soils of Maryland. I bought 2 of these bags, enveloped my tree, filled 'em up, and voila! Slow watering at it's best! Maximum use of expensive water.
The bags are heavy duty equipped with strong zippers to connect more than one bag. You fill the bag into the hole hidden under the product tag, which flips up. I'm excited to find a method of controlled watering. Great product.

  5. Q:How do you use a tree watering bag for best results?
    3/25/24
A:Before using the Solutions tree water bag, you will need to first determine the diameter of your tree so you know how many to use and the appropriate size bag for accurate watering. This information can be found in our How to Use section of this page. Place 1 of these tree bags around trees with a diameter of up to 3 inches. Zip 2 of the bags together for trees 4 to 8 inches in diameter.
