Kaput Ground Squirrel Bait, manufactured by Kaput, is a powerfully formulated granule product to eliminate and control California ground squirrels infestations, and their fleas as well.
This easy to use squirrel killing bait uses the active ingredient Diphacinone 0.0025% and Imidacloprid 0.0250%, which works to cause blood clotting in squirrels and paralysis in fleas resulting in a fast death for both pests.
Kaput Ground Squirrel Bait is a easy-to-use bait that has a highly palatable oat-based formulation that competes well with the squirrel's natural food sources.
Tools Needed
Kaput Ground Squirrel Bait must be used in a secured, tamper-resistant bait station.
Do not use these implements used for baiting for mixing, holding, or transferring foods or feeds.
How to Use
- Step 1: Before using the Kaput Ground Squirrel Bait, you will need to determine where California ground squirrels are most active. Once you have determine this place 2 to 4 lbs. of the Kaput Ground Squirrel Bait per secured bait stations with a glove covered hand. Depending on the infestation, secure each loaded bait station 20 to 100 feet apart.
- Step 2: Using waterproof gloves and a long handled scooping device transfer the measured amount of Kaput Ground Squirrel Bait from the container to the bait station.
- Step 3: Check bait stations frequently to ensure an uninterrupted supply of bait is always available for at least 15 days, or until there no longer are any signs of feeding. Collect and bury dead rodents while wearing waterproof gloves. Dispose of leftover bait according to "Pesticide Disposal".
Where to Use
Kaput Ground Squirrel Bait can be applied in tamper-resistant bait stations around buildings (including areas such as yards and flower gardens). Secure bait stations at locations where they will be readily accessible to California ground squirrels, preferably near active burrows.
When to Use
Kaput Ground Squirrel Bait should only be used when you have discovered damage done by California ground squirrels, or if they have invaded your home or place of business.

Kaput Ground Squirrel Bait is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling or applying this product.
This product is highly toxic to mammals and birds. Dogs, cats, and other predatory and scavenging mammals and birds might be poisoned if they feed upon animals that have eaten this bait.

We live in an area where people are not as vigilante as we are. If only one of you in an area is 'taking care of' ground squirrels, this stays a never ending situation. You get rid of them with this bait for a summer, but they are back in full force the next summer. We used this last summer and got rid of them. We also got rid of rats, which was a bonus. We lived rodent free for a year, then both the rats and the ground squirrels came back in full force this year. I want to order another 25 pound bucket, but they are out and the 5 pounder is way too expensive. Will purchase again as soon as it comes back in stock.

Squirrels Like It, So I like it!
We have herds of ground squirrels in and around our home acreage. A couple of Kaput cups into PVC T's soon disappears and so does the squirrel population. I don't find dead ones but the population is definitely reduced on one end of the property where I Kaput.

We have been trying to get rid of the ground squirrels for the last 10 years and we asked my Grandson to see if he could find something that may work he found this so we order the small 5 pound pail and it worked so great that we have ordered the 50 pound bag because it works the best, we just wish we knew about this a lot earlier before we had so many of them squirrels then maybe we wouldn't have all these babies now so we are still killing them but they are few and far between.

If an applicator license isn't needed in California, the most over regulated state in the nation, I doubt if one wold be needed in WA.

I had a terrible squirrel problem with them eating everything in my garden, but after using squirrel bait my problem was solved. Squirrels eat the bait and fill their cheeks up with the bait to take back to their burrows where others can eat it too. I’m sure if it can kill the squirrels it will have the same effect on other animals. I would advise not to use it in areas where your pets can get it.

When is the best time of year to put poison out?12/29/20A:I use bait traps for ground squirrel control. I typically see them in spring through summer (in California), They disappear in late fall and winter. I keep the bait rap full and will see the ground squirrels come and go. but they may disappear for a few weeks and then return. Seems you have to be diligent and keep the bait in the trap at all times. I expect to see them again in the spring. Good luck.
