Drione Dust, manufactured by Bayer, is a powerful insecticide dust that provides fast control of common pests like cockroaches, bed bugs, silverfish and more. Once applied, it will remain effective for up to 6 months, saving you time on future pest visits.

This easy to use desiccant features natural pyrethum 1.0% and amorphous silicia gel 40.0% that produces from sand and erodes the insect cuticle, causing the pest to die from dehydration after two days. It also contains the active ingredient piperonyl butoxide 10.0%, which enhances the pyrethrins success on the toughest of insects.

Drione Dust is an excellent flushing tool that effectively pinpoints infestations and breeding sites in hard-to-reach-areas for complete pest elimination. When applied, it contains no-odor and will not stain treated areas making it ideal to kill pests such as ants in sensitive indoor areas.

Tools Needed

To apply Drione Dust, you will need to use a handheld bulb duster or hand duster.

How to Use

Using a bulb duster

  • Step 1: Determine how much Drione Dust to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, you will need to measure the treatment areas length and width and multiply them together (length X width = square footage). To control crawling insects in animal quarters and stored product, use 2 oz. of Drione Dust per 100 sq. ft. of surface area. For severe infestations, apply this product behind cabinets and walls, in crawlspaces and attics at the rate of 16 oz of product per 1,000 sq. ft. of surface area. To get rid of drywood termites, apply 1 lb. of product per 1,000 sq. ft. of floor area. To get rid of fleas in lawns, basements, and crawl spaces use 16 oz. of product per 1,000 sq. ft. For example, if you calculated a treatment area of 150 sq. ft., you will need to apply 3 oz.. of Drione Dust.
  • Step 2: Drione Dust's container can be used as an applicator or a handheld bulb duster can be used. If the bottle is being used, squeeze the bottle to puff the dust out while the tip is pointing or inserted into the areas needing treatment.
  • Step 3: If a handheld bulb duster is being used, remove the cap and fill the compartment halfway with Drione Dust. Place the cap back on and insert the tip of the duster into areas needing treatment, while squeezing the bulb to puff the dust.
  • Step 4: Apply Drione Dust to cracks, crevices, and voids where pests hide, such as behind moldings, shelves, baseboards; in pipe openings, behind and under appliances, and behind cabinets and walls, in crawlspaces and attics. The dust will last for several months if not disturbed. Repeat treatments can be made as needed.

Excellent Product Very Effective.
Had wasp nests under boat dock and spread powder around cracks where wasps were going under dock boards to nest. Within 5 minutes 10 wasps came out and tracked through the dust and within minutes started to die. Very effective.

  5. Q:Is dust safe for lizards?
    7/26/18
A:Drione dust contains pyrethrins which may not be all that great for lizards. The doses that would be used to treat cracks and crevices probably wouldn't kill the lizard directly, but one of the main food sources for lizards are small insects - which if they are poisoned with Drione is going to impact the lizard by killing off its food sources.

  6. Q:Is this toxic or poisonous? Or similar to diatomaceous Earth? Yellow jacket nest near vegetable garden
    7/18/18
A:Using any pesticide near food your gonna eat in my opinion is not a great idea. But the idea of using the dust is to minimize area affected. The dust will kill them. If you do try this effective product just make sure you wash you veggies well. I use a lot of the products on this site and I’m very happy with the results. Good luck

  10. Q:Will it work on carpenter bees?
    4/30/18
A:Yes it will, that's the only reason I use it. The best way I found to use this product is to wait till they are active and flying around. I use my air compressor to blow the dust up in the holes they are using. After a few minutes, they will start crawling out falling to the ground and die. I love the stuff. Carpenter bees are very destructive in my area. Protect your face and your lungs.
