CSI 4-4 Mosquito Fogging Insecticide
CSI 4-4 Mosquito Fogging Insecticide
CSI 4-4 is a professional-grade fogging concentrate which contains the active ingredient Permethrin and PBO to deliver quick knockdown and residual action to treat mosquitoes and other flying pests. CSI 4-4 can be diluted with oil or applied undiluted via fogging equipment.
CSI 4-4 Insecticide by Control Solutions Inc. is a ready-to-use mosquito fogging solution with 4.6% Permethrin and 4.6% Piperonyl Butoxide. It can be applied as a cold-fogging or as a thermal-fogging solution to provide a fast knockdown and residual control of mosquitoes and other flying insects.
CSI 4-4 Insecticide is primarily used by city officials and pest control companies to ensure that targeted insects do not spread diseases, such as the West Nile Virus. CSI 4-4 is usually applied by truck-mounted thermal foggers for control of flying insects over large areas, such as neighborhoods or golf courses, and is safe to apply to various crops.
Tools Needed
To apply CSI 4-4, a handheld ULV fogger, truck-mounted ULV fogger, or truck-mounted thermal aersol fogger is required. When used as a thermal or non-thermal fog, CSI 4-4 can be applied either diluted or undiluted.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much CSI 4-4 you will need, depending on what you are using this product for, as well as where and how you will be applying it. To do this you will need to calculate the square footage (length x width = square footage) or the acreage (Square footage /43,560 = acreage) of the area you wish to treat.
- Step 2: CSI 4-4 can be applied either Undiluted or diluted with mineral oil. The maximum amount of Permethrin and Pipronyl butoxide (PBO) allowed is 0.007 pounds per acre in a 3-day period (or 8.04 fl. oz per acre). For both ULV non-thermal aerosol (cold fog) and thermal aerosol fogging applications, the flow rate is between 2.28 and 16.08 ounces per minute at an average vehicle speed of 10 miles per hour. These rates are equivalent to 0.001 (1.14 fl. oz.) and 0.007 (8.04 fl. oz.) pounds of permethrin and PBO per acre. Use the higher flow rate in heavy vegetation or when populations are high. CSI 4-4 can also be diluted with a solvent-like mineral oil so you don't exceed the maximum weight of the active ingredients per acre.
- Step 3: Apply CSI 4-4 at a flow rate of 16.08 fluid ounces per minute with a vehicle speed of 10 mph when using a truck-mounted fogger. This will ensure that you are applying 0.007 pounds of permethrin and PBO per acre. For backpack or handheld applications, you will want to apply CSI 4-4 at a rate of no higher than 0.007 pounds of permethrin and PBO per acre (2.68 fl. oz. per acre). Use a walking speed of 2 mph and a 300 feet swath width. Direct the mist to the air, foliage and harborage areas where mosquitoes and other flying pests are found.
Where to Use
When used as an ultra low volume (ULV) non-thermal aerosol (cold fog) application, CSI 4-4 can be used on athletic fields, campsites, gardens, golf courses, municipalities, overgrown waste areas, parks, playgrounds, recreational areas, residential areas, and woodlands.
There are a number of fruits and vegetables that are approved to be applied with this product before harvest. Refer to the CSI 4-4 label for the full list.
When to Use
For best results, when CSI 4-4 Insecticide used as a ULV non-thermal aerosol (cold fog) treatment, apply when the weather conditions will keep the fog low to the ground and when the insects are most active, which is usually in the early hours of the day or later in the evening when temperatures are cool. Apply when air temperatures are over 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Apply when ground wind speeds are great than 1 mph, but when wind speeds are less than 10 mph.
Safety Information
CSI 4-4 is safe to use in public areas when applied according to label directions. This pesticide is extremely toxic to bees and aquatic organisms. Do not apply over bodies of water, or when wind speeds exceed 10 mph. See CSI 4-4 label for a list of approved fruits and vegetables that are allowed to be applied with this product before harvest.
Special Considerations
CSI 4-4 has to be applied with ultra low volume (ULV) and thermal fogging equipment. It cannot be applied with a pump sprayer or spray rig. Do not treat a site with more than 0.007 lbs of each active ingredient per care ina 3 day period.

Q:I have the Stihl sr200 backpack blower, does this work in that or do I need some thing else?4/30/20A:I use a thermal fogger to disperse the solution and it works very effectively. The solution is also suitable for misting dispersal and I believe a backpack blower with the appropriate injection kit would work

Q:Can this product be used in a propane fogger?7/16/19A:Yes, but you must dilute and then when done fogging ensure there is no product left in the heating tubes. I do this by relieving the pressure from the insecticide tank and letting it run until no further fogging mist being output.

Q:Will this product work in a small fogger such as a Burgess model, or will it clog it up?6/19/19A:I've tried to use it in my fogger (Burgess), even with the recommendation of diluting with castor oil and it's always clogged my fogger.

Q:DOES THIS PRODUCT WORK ON BLOWERS?9/20/18A:I use it with an atomizer , so it lingers in the air quite awhile. The product works fantastic for me. We live in a wooded wetland area and prior to treating mosquitoes we couldn't enjoy our yard.

Q:Can CSI 4-4 be mixed with water?10/17/17A:CSI- 4-4 is a ready to use product and does not need to be mixed for fogging, if you are using a ULV you will do nothing. If you are needing to use in a thermal fogger, then it will need mineral oil mixed with the product. Thermal Aerosol Fogging: Apply diluted or undiluted with suitable Thermal Fogging equipment such as truck-mounted fog generators or other equipment capable of making thermal fogging applications. Do not exceed the maximum rate of 0.007 lbs. a.i./acre. May be applied at speeds of 5 to 20 mph, using a 300 ft. swath width for calculations. To reduce oil requirement and sludge buildup in equipment, use a suitable mineral oil of 60 – 100 second viscosity. For use with handheld, backpack or lawn mower thermal fogging equipment, do not exceed the maximum rate of 0.007 lbs. a.i./acre. Use a walking speed of 2 mph (3.2 kph) and a swath width of 300 feet for calculations.

Q:I have a Stihl SR 200 backpack sprayer. The label says to dilute with mineral oil. The formula tables are confusing. How much of the CSI 4-4 do use per gallon of mineral oil?6/19/17A:Your Fogger is a Mist Blower and does not require mineral oil, this would be used in a thermal fogger. The CSI 4-4 will be used straight in the fogger.
