Tengard SFR Permethrin Insecticide
Tengard SFR Permethrin Insecticide
Tengard SFR, manufactured by UPI, is a professional grade insecticide that works to eliminate subterranean termites and other wood infesting insects within 14 days of application.
Formulated with the active ingredient permethrin 36.8%, which work to overexcite the pests nervous system leading paralysis then death. This all-in-one insecticide not only targets indoor and outdoor pests like silverfish, but resistant termites as well in residential and commercial structures.
Tengard SFR offers multiple forms of pest control in various application sites without producing a strong, foul odor. One quart of this product creates up to 20 gallons of finished solution to control invasive pests infesting lumber, foundations, basements, and more.
Tools Needed
To apply Tengard SFR as a pesticide spray, a hose-end sprayer, backpack sprayer, handheld pump sprayer, or a professional skid sprayer is needed.
When used by licensed professionals to control subterranean termites by trenching, a wheelbarrow and the proper dirt-digging or trenching tools are needed.
When used by DIY homeowners to eliminate various insects from lawn areas, we recommend using a hose end sprayer or handheld pump sprayer.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Tengard SFR to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the treatment areas length and width in feet then multiply these together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acre). Depending on the pest, use 0.9 to 1.8 fl. oz. of Tengard SFR per 4 to 25 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. of ornamental plants. For ornamental trees, apply 1 to 5.35 quarts of product per 100 gallons of water. For lawns, use 0.4 to 0.8 fl. oz. of product per 4 to 25 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. Refer to the label for specific application rates and restrictions.
- Step 2: Fill your selected sprayer halfway with water and then add the measured amount of Tengard SFR to the spray tank. Fill the spray tank with the other 1/2 gallon of water and shake the spray tank to mix well and you're ready to spray.
- Step 3: Apply the Tengard SFR mixture to the target areas for maximum control. For a broadcast application, adjust the nozzle to a fan spray, and for cracks and crevice areas, adjust the nozzle to a pin stream. Reapply the product every 2 to 4 weeks depending on the targeted pest and area of application.
Where to Use
Tengard SFR may be used as a spot treatment in crawl spaces and indoors to carpeting, wood, tile, concrete or other structural building materials as a crack and crevice injection, or paint-on application. It may also be applied to interior plantscapes, and landscape ornamental gardens including parks, lawns, and grounds.
Other than applications to building surfaces, all outdoor applications with this product to impervious surfaces such as sidewalks, driveways, patios, porches, and structural surfaces (such as windows, doors, and eaves) are limited to spot and crack and crevice applications only.
Tengard SFR can be used to control listed pests on ornamentals, lawns, trees, shrubs, and vines in landscape areas around residential, public, institutional, commercial and industrial buildings, and on plants intended for aesthetic purposes in interior gardens and plantscapes.
As a surface or space spray in livestock premises, apply this product to dairies, barns, feedlots, stables, poultry houses, swine and livestock houses, animal hospitals, pens and kennels, and outside meat processing premises.
This product may be used only on fruit and nut trees such as almond, apples, cherries, filberts, peaches, pears, and pistachios around residential sites.
Do not apply to commercial fruit and nut trees.
When to Use
Apply Tengard SFR as a preventative treatment to keep various pests from finding their way indoors particularly in the spring and summer months when pest activity is highest.
The amount of time in between treatments depends on the type of surface area where the insecticide will be applied, and the targeted insects being controlled.
Safety Information
Tengard SFR is safe to use around children, pets, and livestock when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying Tengard SFR. Allow treated areas time to completely dry before re-entering.
Do not use on cats.
Do not use on dogs under twelve (12) weeks old. Sensitivities may occur after using any pesticide product on pets.
Special Considerations
Tengard SFR can only be used by licensed professionals as a termiticide to control subterranean termites, and as an insecticide to treat pre-construction lumber and logs, and to use on buildings or structures.

Keith's Pro Tips | "To use Tengard SFR as a broadcast spray on lawns, apply with a hose end sprayer to cover a lot more area in a short amount of time. Just add the proper amount of concentrate to the reservoir, attach it to the water hose, and begin applying the product evenly on desired areas. Remember to always start applying at the end of the lawn and work your way back without stepping on treated areas." |
