Omega Gopher Bait, manufactured by RCO International, is a ready to use gopher bait that can be placed in the gopher tunnel system.

This effective bait formula contains anti-mold additives which keep the product fresh for gopher consumption and oat ingredient to help to keep it palatable to gophers who are constantly on the hunt for food.

Use Omega Gopher Bait as part of a gopher control program to rid gophers from your property.

Tools Needed

Omega Gopher Bait comes ready to use, but you will need a long-handled measuring spoon or gopher bait applicator to apply the product in gopher holes.

Do not apply this product by means of a burrow-builder machine.

How to Use

Gopher Bait Probing

  • Step 1: Observe the pocket gopher runways that have been made on the property. Wherever you see an open mound, that is their main runway. You can locate the main runway by using a rod or something similar to probe the mounds.
  • Step 2: With a long-handled spoon or other suitable tool, carefully remove dirt plug. Insert a teaspoonful of Omega Gopher Bait at the junction of the lateral tunnel and the main runway. Re-close hole, taking care to exclude light and not to allow soil to cover bait. Pick up and properly dispose of any spilled bait.
  • Step 3: For probing applications, use either a metal rod or other suitable implement, then probe soil 6 to 8 inches around mound, starting from plug side, to locate main runway. When runway is entered, resistance on probe will decrease abruptly. Remove probe and insert a teaspoonful of Omega Gopher Bait through probe hole (enlarged if necessary). Cover opening with a rock, a clump of soil, or other object that will exclude light. Take care not to permit dirt to cover bait. Pick up and properly dispose of any spilled bait.
  • Step 4: Make two to five sets per burrow system, depending upon its apparent size. Depending upon pocket gopher density, one pound of Omega Gopher Bait will treat one to eight acres. Wait a few days and reapply if pocket gopher activity continues.

Where to Use

Omega Gopher Bait can be used only in manual, subterranean applications in terrestrial food crops, and terrestrial nonfood and forestry areas.

Bait must be deposited in pocket gophers’ underground runways. Do not apply bait above ground.

Do not apply directly to food or feed crops.

When to Use

Use Omega Gopher Bait when you have discovered gopher activity. This can be indicated by seeing gophers themselves or the mounds they dig.

Burrowing pocket gophers throw out low, fan-shaped dirt mounds on either side of their underground runways. Short lateral tunnels connect the mounds to the main runway. Except when a pocket gopher is throwing out dirt, its lateral tunnels are plugged with soil at the mound, often creating a horseshoe-shaped depression.

Safety Information

Omega Gopher Bait is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling and applying this product.

Do not expose baits in a manner which presents a hazard to humans, pets, poultry, or livestock. Keep pets, domestic animals, and people not involved with the application out of the treatment area while product is being applied.

Special Considerations

When applying Omega Gopher Bait, the bait must be deposited in pocket gophers’ underground runways. The product is not meant to be applied above ground under any circumstances.

ineffective.
There are two problems with the bate; a. the gophers will not take the bate, b. the amount of bate consumed by the gophers does not have enough poison to kill them I had no success with the product yet.

The Omega of Omega
My Brother in Law used it in New Mexico and it worked fine for him. I don't seem to get the hang of it in Arkansas or them pesky suckers are just too numerous for me to get all of them. They are probably have a breeding ground in the hay fields across my street.

great product
wasent to sure of how effective this product would be, since most of the time i trap, sometimes traps fail and the gopher gets away, so you need a backup, dont waste your money on wilco type two (yellow label) from Home Depot unless youn want to feed the gopher three or four times before it works i dont have that kind of time, i was impressed with this product and will be buying more, a table spoon in each tunnel seems to do the trick no more activity. thumbs up ...

This product was highly recommended by our exterminator. Since receiving And using the bait we have seen no new mounds. We wonder why we waited so long to find this bait.

Not sure yet.
I'm not sure yet if it is effective. I put some grains in a trap, one mouse came in and ate about 20 grains. I was waiting for it to get groggy or die within 8 hours but it was still active. I don't know if the poison is effective. I'm hoping it will be effective against gophers.

  3. Q:Will this work for rabbits?
    4/24/21
A:I really don't know, because this bait is mostly wheat covered with strychnine. As such, its hell on pocket gophers ( I've never found anything that even comes close) but I dont know if rabbits will go for the dried wheat. They mostly eat green stuff. You might as well try it. I'd imagine it'd work for rats and mice since they both chew wheat.

  5. Q:Will it work for moles ?
    8/28/19
A:No, unfortunately, this product is not labeled for Moles. We recommend using Talpirid Mole Worms.

  7. Q:How do you insert the bate into gofer whole?
    6/29/18
A:We have found the best method is to find the newest mole mound. Use a poking rod to find the hold. Then, put the bait on a tablespoon and insert it into the hole as far back as you can get it (best to wear disposable gloves). Don't want to leave a scent near the food. Then cover the hole with dirt/grass combination, but do not pack the hole. Good Luck.

  8. Q:Dog?
    2/28/18
A:you don't want your dog to eat this or a gopher that ate this. If your dog digs, and finds the dead gopher, well that is not what you want. The product works. The poison lasts & is strong
