"Don't forget that pest control is more than directly treating pests with pesticide. You also have to treat them indirectly by considering what is attracting the pest(s) in the first place and then eliminating it."

How Long Does It Take To Get Rid of My Pest Issue?

We get it. When you have a pest infestation, you want it gone sooner rather than later. But to be completely free of pest problems is not something that can happen quickly or immediately upon using a pesticide product, no matter how potent. This is why when people do their own pest control, they first ask, "how long does pest control take?"

The amount of time it takes to eliminate a pest problem can vary depending on the pest infestation you have, the severity of the infestation, what pesticide product you are using, and the stage of the insect's life cycle.

When products are applied properly, you should see a significant decrease in pest activity, but likely not a total removal of the invasion. Repeated applications may be necessary to address stragglers and the other phases of the life cycle (eggs that have yet to be hatched) until they are totally wiped out.

For example, flea infestations can take typically two weeks to gain total control. An average outdoor cockroach infestation may take 6 days. Spiders will leave when you eliminate their food source (other smaller insects). Ants can take 7 to 10 days to get rid of with the right combination of products.

Pest Control Takes Time

Cockroach baiting takes time to show results

Some slow-killing pesticide products are designed to increase populations for a short time. This will make it appear that the problem is getting worse. A common saying from Pest Control experts is, "it gets worse before it gets better."

Don't expect instant results when you apply our recommended pesticides. Some products, like ant and roach bait, require some time for insects to actively eat the bait and take it back to share amongst others in their colony. Other pesticides will only work when a pest has crawled over or come into contact with the product.

You have to allow insects the opportunity to explore so they can expose themselves to the product and allow the pesticide to do its job.

You will also need to treat pests by removing what is attracting them in the first place. Like humans and other animals, pests need 3 basic things to survive: food, water, and shelter. So be sure that there is no food or trash left out regularly; address any moisture issues; and remove clutter and seal up any voids pests can use to enter your home.

Then, and only then, will you get a satisfying result. Supreme IT is a broad spectrum insecticide that will kill up to 70 pests for up to 3 months.

Novacide Flea & Tick Killer is a insecticide aerosol that kills insects on contact and stunt the growth of those that come across treated areas.
