Martin's Gopher Bait 50, manufactured by CSI, is a specially treated grain that uses a fast-acting powerful bait made with strychnine alkaloid 0.50% to poison nuisance gophers in and around your yard. One pound of bait will treat between 1 to 8 acres, offering greater gopher control at a economic value.
This ready to use granular bait can be placed directly in active burrows or tunnels of pocket gophers. Formulated with the active ingredient Strychnine Alkaloid 0.50% to effectively get rid of pocket gophers and consists of special flavoring to attract this pest for a quick elimination.
Martin's Gopher Bait 50 is applied underneath the soil to ensure only gophers can access the bait and eat it. After the gophers ingest the bait, they will die within just a few short hours. Using Martin's Gopher Bait 50 will ensure that gophers are eliminated and no longer wreaking havoc on lawns, farms or ranches.
Tools Needed
To apply Martin's Gopher Bait 50 a metal rod is needed to find the gopher tunnels and a shovel is needed to remove dirt and place it back over the tunnel. A long handled spoon or bait applicator can be used to apply the bait.
This product cannot be applied with a mechanical burrow builder.
How to Use
- Step 1: Remove burrow plug from flat side of burrow fan or locate main runway by probing with a metal rod or wooden stick. Resistance on probe will decrease when you are in the main runway.
- Step 2: Apply 1 teaspoon of Martin's Gopher Bait 50 into burrow system, using a long-handled spoon if necessary. One pound of this product will treat 1-8 acres, depending upon number of burrow systems to be treated.
- Step 3: Cover up the tunnel back up with soil without disturbing it. Do not permit soil to cover bait. If new gopher activity is noticed, retreat according to the above directions.
Where to Use
Martin's Gopher Bait 50 should only be used in subterranean applications in rangelands, pastures, croplands, and non-crop areas.
Do not apply directly to food or feed crops. Nor apply this product above ground over agricultural crops or anywhere else.
When to Use
Gopher Bait 50 can be applied anytime gopher activity is suspected.
Safety Information
Gopher Bait 50 is safe to use around humans and pets when its applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling and applying this product.
Do not apply this product in a way that will contact workers, other persons, pets, or domestic animals. Keep pets and other people out of the area during application.
This product is toxic to fish, birds, and other wildlife. Do not allow bait to be exposed on soil surface.
Special Considerations
Never apply this product above ground, and especially not close to agricultural crops.
The killing of a member of an endangered species during strychnine baiting operations may result in a fine under the Endangered Species Act. Before baiting, user is advised to contact the regional U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Endangered Species Specialist) or local fish and Game Office for specific information on endangered species. Strychnine baits should not be used in the geographic ranges of the following species except under programs and procedures approved by the U.S. EPA: California Condor, San Joaquin Kit Fox, Morro Bay Kangaroo Rat, Salt Marsh Harvest Mouse, Gray Wolf and Grizzly Bear.

This stuff works!!!! Killed the gopher after one time. He had buried 3 different kinds of traps. I had gone through 2 lbs. of Kaput, and a cone of another type of bait and he just kept eating the “poison” grain and backfilling the tunnels. This was after 2 weeks of “feeding” him! I have trapped many gophers but this one was driving me nuts!!! Martin’s bait did the job immediately and is more humane than killing them over time. I would highly recommend this bait!

It only took one application!
I had tried other gopher bait/poisons, but they were not effective. I then tried Martin's with strychnine, and after one application I didn't have any further occurrences. I would recommend using this product before purchasing a non-strychnine product.

As soon as I see that mound of dirt I’m out there with my Martin’s gopher bait. Either it’s that good or it’s dumb luck, but once I treat the hill there are no new hills. I have treated 5 hills so far in the last 2 years.

Q:What if I can't get to the tunnel it's under building?7/6/21A:I have had several gophers under my foundation with only a couple of mounds of dirt showing. So, I made about a dozen injections of the bait spaced about 1 foot apart with the dirt mounds in the middle area of the injections. Also, I put the point of the injector right against the foundation. No more gophers at that location now, but a few new ones move in every year from neighbors so gopher eradicating is an ongoing project.
