Dylox 6.2, manufactured by Bayer, is a granular insecticide that contains the active ingredient Trichlorfon and is used for the selective control of white grubs and other common turf insects that are known to damage plants on landscape and recreational turfgrass.

This product can even penetrate thatch up to 1/2 inch thick. It provides rapid curative grub control in as little as 24 hours and has a longer effective application window than most competitors.

Dylox 6.2 is easy to apply and can be part of a solid long-term strategy that will keep turf pests away all season long.

Tools Needed

To use Dylox 6.2, you will need a broadcast push spreader or drop type spreader.

Do not apply this product using hand-held or chest-mounted spreaders. Aerial application is prohibited.

How to Use

Spreading granules of Dylox 6.2

  • Step 1: Determine how much Dylox 6.2 you need by calculating the square footage of the area to be treated. To do this, measure (in feet) and multiply the length and width of your yard (length x width = square footage). To treat sod webworms, cranberry girdler, cutworm, and armyworms, use 2 pounds of products per 1,000 square feet. To treat for root-feeding insects such as white grub larvae, chinch bugs, and billbugs you should use the product at a rate of 3 pounds per 1,000 square feet. So for example, if your yard is 2,000 square feet and you want to treat for sod webworms, you would need 4 pounds of Dylox 6.2.
  • Step 2: Calibrate your spreader to the right spreader setting for application and load the granules into the spreader. The label provides you with the proper calibration recommendation.
  • Step 3: Uniformly spread the Dylox 6.2 granules across your lawn, this may take at least two walkthroughs, perpendicular to each other, for even coverage.
  • Step 4: Water the treated area to activate the insecticide. Wait a minimum of 7 days to retreat. Limit the number of applications to turf 3 times per calendar year.

Where to Use

Dylox 6.2 can be applied on residential and business turf, golf courses, agricultural landscapes, ornamentals, gardens and many other listed areas where turf insects are causing damage.

Do not apply within 25 feet of lakes, reservoirs, rivers, permanent streams, marshes, natural ponds, or estuaries.

When to Use

Use Dylox 6.2 when there are turf insects on your property that are damaging plants. The prime time turf insects show up are in the early spring between March and April.

Safety Information

Dylox 6.2 is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling and applying this product.

Do not enter or allow others to enter the treated area until the surface is dry after watering-in.

Special Considerations

In order to release the active ingredient in the product you must water the turf and the product the same day as the application. Make sure there is enough water to let the product penetrate into the excess thatch thoroughly. If sufficient rainfall occurs after application no additional watering is needed.

Broadcast use is limited to tees and greens on golf courses. Use on fairways is limited to spot treatments.

Very satisfied!
I found oodles of grubs while digging in my flower beds, under the trees and assumed I had these nasty fat white creepy looking grubs in my lawn also, so ordered a bag that was highly recommended over the store brands, I will order another bag later on the year to treat again. By the way, all the grubs I dug up before treating, I placed in a bird tray and the robins had a hay day with their garden treat.

  2. Q:For those who have had an active grub infestation that was killing your grass, does the Dylox 6.2 granule product do a good job of killing grubs below the surface of the grass? Or do you need to get the grubs to come up from within the soil and make contact with this product on the surface of the soil? I have a bad case of grubs and they're killing a large section of my yard so i need to act fast and as efficiently as possible! Thank you.
    9/15/22
A:When watered properly, Dylox 6.2 can even penetrate thatch up to 1/2 inch thick to eliminate grubs. However, Dylox 6.2 is on backorder by the manufacturer so it may take some time before you receive the item. For in-stock grub control products, we recommend using the products listed in our DIY guide. https://www.solutionsstores.com/grub-control
