D-Fense Dust, manufactured by CSI, is a waterproof insecticide that controls many different species of insects such as cockroaches, silverfish, boxelder bugs, and many others that occasionally invade indoors through small cracks and crevices in our houses' structures. To stop these pests from coming in, Use D-Fense Dust to create long-lasting residual barriers in the tight, hard-to-reach spaces these pests use to invade.

It can be applied with the applicator tip on the bottle itself or it can be applied with a handheld duster to reach deep into cracks and crevices where insects hide. D-Fense Dust does not stain and is safe to apply to fabric surfaces. It also controls for insects found on various types of ornamental plants and flowers.

When insects ingest D-Fense Dust, their nervous system breaks down and causes them to perish. This dust formulation can be applied as a prevention treatment in weep holes, wall voids, and electrical boxes to keep targeted pests from finding their way indoors. No mixing or liquid sprays needed, just puff D-Fense Dust in areas where insects are found crawling for up to 8 months of protection.

Tools Needed

D-Fense Dust can be applied without tools, however, we strongly recommend you have a handheld duster with a long spout in order to treat tight spaces and hard-to-reach areas.

How to Use

  • Step 1: Determine how much D-Fense Dust to use by calculating the square footage of the area to be treated. To do this, measure (in feet) and multiply the areas length and width (length x width = square footage). A general treatment of D-Fense Dust should be made at a rate of 2 to 3 grams of product per square yard or 0.5 lbs. of product per 1,000 sq. ft.
  • Step 2: To use D-Fense Dust with a handheld duster, open the bottle and pour the appropriate amount of dust into the dusters reservoir volume. Close the duster, and shake to break up and distribute the product. Most dusters should come with a small iron ball or similar object to break up clumps.
  • Step 3: When ready, stick the dusters spout into the area to be treated and apply. Be sure to get an even coating on all labeled surfaces in the area. Reapply as needed depending on the magnitude of the infestation.

Where to Use

D-Fense Dust has to be applied in areas where targeted pests will make direct contact.

Indoors, you can apply D-Fense Dust around cracks, crevices, baseboards, flooring, behind wall sockets, wall voids near electrical and plumbing.

Outdoors, apply D-Fense Dust inside weepholes, around entryways, and into wall voids. You can also apply dust directly onto ant mounds.

Do not apply this product in aircraft cabins.

When to Use

D-Fense Dust can be used as part of a preventative treatment when insects try to make their way indoors. You can also use D-Fense Dust as part of an insect eradication treatment plan at any time and applied in areas where insects are seen.

Safety Information

D-Fense Dust is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling or applying this product.

Do not use D-Fense Dust on surface areas or near utensils where food is stored or prepared.

Special Considerations

Although D-Fense Dust can be used outdoors, it is not meant for large area applications. Also, apply in dry areas. If D-Fense Dust is to get wet, it will lose its effectiveness.

D-Fense Dust will provide long-lasting barriers to protect your home from invading insect pests. Most active infestations cannot be controlled through the use of one product. To prevent most infestations, you will also want to make a barrier application around your home with Supreme IT and monitor for pest activity with professional glue traps.

Worked well
This is a fine dust that is best used for applications where you cannot physically reach the next. Bees were entering from where the concrete met the base of my exterior wall. I purchased the bulb duster and applied several times over a few weeks. Started using it in late summer. Bee activity slowed and by the following summer, the bees were gone. I don’t know if it helped, but I even used my leave blower to blow the dust up and into the wall.

Bee killer.....
Had a nest of bees in the ground next to my garage. Sevin and Home Defense products did not eradicate them. Puffed in D-dense, and they disappeared in several days. Strongly recommend this product.

    4/4/18
A:The D-fence would be applied to the openings they have created in the rafters. It is advised to apply early in the morning or late in the evening when they become less active.

  3. Q:Will it kill Lady bugs?
    2/22/18
A:We would advise using a liquid insecticide to spray around entry point and areas that they could land on. The dust would be used as a crack and crevice treatment and would not cover all of these areas.

  4. Q:Can you use defense dust inside of electronic like computer stereo TV xcetera?

A:I would not put it directly on the electronic components. You can place inside the casing and should be just as beneficial.

  6. Q:Will this product work on bees? All type of bees or only Carpenter bees? I have a small opening under my shed where they seem to have a nest and hoping to dust inside the hole with the right chemical to kill all bees and make the area uninhabitable.
    5/11/17
A:D-fense dust when dusted into an opening that is inhabited by Carpenter bees or other bees will kill them. It is not however a contact insecticide and certain types of bees other than Carpenter Bee will be aggressive so common sense and caution should be used.
