Bora-Care with Mold Care
Bora-Care with Mold Care
Bora-Care with Mold care, manufactured by Nisus Corporation, is a powerful termiticide and moldicide combination that effectively stops wood decay and kills and prevents mold, odor, and pests like drywood termites.
This emulsifiable concentrate uses the active ingredients disodium octaborate tetrahydrate 40&, which helps to to prevent wood surfaces from decaying or being destroyed by wood-destroying insects such as powerpost beetles.
Bora-Care with Mold Care offers instant protection for homes and treatment sites when damaged by water from plumbing or future flood activities for the rest of the wood's life.
Tools Needed
To mix Bora-Care Mold Care, a 6 gallon or larger size bucket, 3/8 to 1/2" drill, and paddle bit (like one to mix paint) is needed. To apply Bora-Care Mold Care, a backpack sprayer, stainless steel handheld pump sprayer, or professional skid sprayer is needed.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Boracare Moldcare you will need by measuring the linear feet (the length of the measurement ie. 6 total feet = 6 linear feet) of the wood you will be treating and the square footage (length x width (in feet) = square footage) of any sheathing, insulation or drywall you will be treating. One finished gallon of Boracare Moldcare will treat 400 linear feet of wood or 400 square feet of sheathing, insulation or drywall. The typical application rate for crawlspaces is 1 gallon of product per 5 gallons of water per 1250 sq. ft.
- Step 2: To make general applications with a backpack sprayer or handheld pump sprayer, begin by filling up the bucket with 4 gallons of warm to hot water and then starting agitation with the help of a paddle bit attached to a drill. Slowly add 1 gallon of Bora-Care and 1 pint of Mold Care to the bucket. Use the last 1 gallon of water to triple rinse out the Bora-Care with Mold Care container and pour into the bucket to make a complete 5-gallon mixture. Continue mix until the solution is like water. A 5:1 ratio solution will keep for up to 30 days.
- Step 3: Pour the mixed solution into the spray tank of a handheld stainless steel pump sprayer or backpack sprayer that can hold 2 to 4 gallons of solution. For larger amounts a spraying rig should be used.
- Step 4: Apply the spray solution to bare wood on various areas covering the entire surface uniformly. Spray wood surfaces to the point of wet, but not runoff. Surfaces must be fully dry before painting or affixing overlayment materials. Applications can be made as often as once a year.
Where to Use
Bora-Care Mold Care can be applied to bare wood surface areas indoor and outdoors. It can be applied to building structures, sheet rock, patios, porches, wooden decks, fences, and any bare wooden surface to stop and prevent mold, fungi, and wood destroying pests. It is recommended to pay attention to areas that are prone to water damage, such as kitchens and bathrooms.
Do not use Bora-Care with Mold Care on soil to kill termites and do not apply in food serving areas. Bora-Care with Mold Care will not work on wooden surfaces that have been painted or stained.
When to Use
It is ideal to apply Bora-Care with Mold Care before insects, mold, or fungi is suspected to prevent wood damage for up to 1 year. Bora-Care with Mold Care can be applied after visible damage is recognized, but may need to have an additional approved fungicide or insecticide mixed in for additional control.
It is recommended to apply Bora-Care with Mold Care before framing in a new home to prevent future damage.

Bora-Care Mold Care is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing or applying this product.
