Archer Insect Growth Regulator
Archer Insect Growth Regulator is designed to stop insect population growth by disrupting the reproductive cycle with unique science. It is useful for controlling populations of fleas, flies, cockroaches, and more.
09/14/25
Archer Insect Growth Regulator (IGR), manufactured by Syngenta, is an IGR concentrate that provides broad-spectrum population control of various insects, such as flies and cockroaches.
The active ingredient is pyriproxyfen, which is designed to mimic insects' juvenile hormones. When the product comes in contact with insects and their eggs and larvae, it interferes with the developmental process and prevents bugs from maturing and multiplying.
Archer Insect Growth Regulator has a unique mode of action that helps to prevent insect resistance to pyrethroids. Therefore, it is often recommended to mix it with an insecticide concentrate that kills adult insects to control the entire pest population.
Tools Needed
You will need either a handheld pump sprayer, backpack sprayer, hose end sprayer, or professional skid sprayer.
For residential use, we recommend that you use either a 1-gallon handheld pump sprayer or a hose-end sprayer, depending on the coverage area you are treating.
How to use
- Step 1: Determine how much Archer Insect Growth Regulator to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet, then multiply them together (length x width = square footage). Archer IGR is to be mixed at a rate of 1 to 2 fl. oz per 1,000 to 1,500 sq. ft., depending on the pest you are treating. So, for example, if you are treating cockroaches, the rate is 2 fl. oz. of product per 1,000 sq. ft. If you measured a treatment area of 3,000 sq. ft., you would need to mix 6 fl. oz. in 3 gallons of water to treat the entire area.
- Step 2: In a handheld pump sprayer, add half the amount of water needed for the application and then the appropriate amount of Archer IGR based on your calculations. (The mixing ratio may vary depending on the insects, the area you are covering, and the type of sprayer you are using.) Fill the sprayer with the remaining half of the required amount of water and then shake the spray tank to mix well.
- Step 3: Spray the mixed solution on label-approved areas. Spray cracks and crevices, spot-treat surfaces, and use a fan spray setting for even coverage. For continued control, we recommend repeating this application every 6 to 7 months.
Where to Use
Archer IGR can be used indoors and outdoors in commercial, residential, and agricultural settings. It can be applied to furniture, animal kennels, poultry houses, and carpets. It is ideal for use in hospitals, food warehouses, non-food warehouses, schools, and more. It can also be applied to turf, lawns, patios, porches, and other surface areas where targeted insects live and breed.
When to Use
We recommend using this product as a preventative treatment to prevent heavy infestations from developing. The best time to treat with Archer IGR is early to mid-spring and again mid-to-late summer. This will help control the pests and keep the population down for a more extended period.
Safety Information
Archer IGR is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear proper personal protective equipment when mixing or applying this product.
Do not allow adults, children, or pets to contact treated surfaces until the area treated has completely dried.
Special Considerations
Archer IGR is not an insecticide and will not kill insects. It can be mixed with a label-approved insecticide so that the breeding cycle will stop and targeted insects will also die from the same treatment.
