Talstar P Professional
Talstar P Professional is a powerful water-based insecticide that effectively controls various pests in and around homes, greenhouses, and other structures.
09/12/25
Talstar P (aka Talstar, Talstar Pro, or Talstar Professional), manufactured by FMC Technologies, is a professional-grade insecticide that treats and controls over 75 insects inside and outside building structures. With various application methods, Talstar P Professional eliminates fleas, cockroaches, spiders, bed bugs, and more.
This long-lasting insecticide contains the active ingredient Bifenthrin 7.9%, which targets the insect's nervous system, disorienting it to the point where it dies. Once applied, it is a repellent, creating a barrier treatment against nuisance pests for up to 90 days.
Talstar P is water-based and odorless, contains no plant-damaging chemicals, and will not leave a visible residue on plants. This product is also ideal for professional use as an outside termite treatment for residential foundations. Talstar P Professional is a versatile insect treatment product that eliminates pests hiding in cracks, crevices, soil, plants, and other areas.
Tools Needed
For treatment applications of Talstar P, you can use a hand-pump sprayer, hose-end sprayer, or backpack sprayer. Spray rigs can be used for large-volume applications. Using Talstar P to treat termites through trenching, you will need a pickaxe or shovel to dig a trench and a bucket with at least a 5-gallon capacity. Termite injection tools for treating under slabs will also be needed.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Talstar P Professional you need by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment areas' length and width in feet, then multiplying them together (length X width = square footage.) For general pest control indoors and outdoors, we recommend spraying at either a 0.02% dilution at 0.33 fl. oz. in a gallon of water to cover 1,000 sq. ft. or a 0.06% dilution at 1 fl. oz. per 1 gallon of water to cover 1,000 sq. ft. Use the higher rate for a heavy pest infestation, a quicker knockdown or longer residual control. For example, if you have a 2,000-square-foot area to be treated at a 0.06% dilution, you would need 2 oz of Talstar P mixed with 2 gallons of water.
- Step 2: It is time to create your solution after measuring your treatment area. Fill your tank with the required amount of water, then add your measured amount of Talstar P Professional. Shake well to create a thorough solution. If you mix in an additional product, such as an insect growth regulator, add it to the solution and shake again.
- Step 3: Apply the Talstar Pro mixture as a coarse, low-pressure spray to your target areas. Outdoors spray common entry points, such as windows, doors, and voids, where plumbing penetrates the walls and eaves. For perimeter treatments, spray 2 to 3 feet up the structure's foundation and 6 to 10 feet out.
- For indoor spraying, only use Talstar Pro as a crack-and-crevice or spot spray to areas pests like to hide, such as under appliances, under sinks, on baseboards, or around doors and windows.
- For termite control: Talstar P can be applied as a perimeter trench treatment using 4 gallons of solution per 10 linear feet at 1 fl. oz. per gallon of water.
Where to Use
Talstar P Professional can be used for residential, industrial, livestock, barn, commercial, and food-handling areas. It can be sprayed around doors, windows, wall voids, and weep holes. It is ideal for outdoor treatments on surface areas around building structures, such as exterior siding, foundations, porches, trees, flowerbeds, and shrubs.
When to Use
Use this product as a quick knockdown treatment for insect activity. It can also be used as a preventative treatment plan for fleas, with a residual lasting up to 90 days and house fly control lasting up to 30 days. When there are signs of new insect activity, re-treating areas should occur no more than once every 7 days. When spraying outdoors, applying Talstar P Professional in the morning is best when temperatures and wind speeds are generally low.
Safety Information
Talstar P Professional is safe around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Allow the product to completely dry before re-entering the treated area.
Special Considerations
Individuals and companies need the proper licensing before using Talstar P Professional as an outdoor termiticide around the perimeter of a building structure.
