Talpirid Mole Bait
Talpirid Mole Bait
Talpirid Mole Bait is manufactured by Bell Laboratories and is a lethal anticoagulant bait designed to eradicate moles. Talpirid Mole Bait uses the active ingredient, bromethalin to kill moles within 24 to 48 hours after consuming the bait.
Talpirid is formulated to attract moles, even when real worms are available to them by being molded to look like earthworms--the main food source that moles enjoy. Moles can consume a lethal dose of Talpirid is one setting, causing them to die underground. Talpirid Mole Bait eliminates moles without messy or complicated traps, and safe to use in tunnels found on home lawns.
**DISCLAIMER** Depending on the weather during transit, it may get hot and the worms may melt. if this happens, simply get a bowl with ice-cold water and put the tray that they come in a plastic bag to restore them back into their original shape. We highly recommend that you use disposable gloves when handling and placing the Talpirid worms so you do not contaminate them with your scent.
Tools Needed
To apply Talpirid Mole Bait, a shovel or dirt removing the tool, pole or wooden dowel, ground markers, or flag markers are needed. The pole will assist in finding active mole tunnels and the flags help find the holes later when applying bait. You should also use gloves when placing bait so your personal scent doesn't get on the bait and confuse the moles or cause them to not want to consume the bait.
How to Use
- Step 1: Inspect the yard for moles by taking a pole or dirt-penetrating object and poke holes in the ground 5 to 10 feet apart where the mole tunnels are suspected. Place a flag marker near the holes made to keep track of the hole for bait placement.
- Step 2: Check the holes within 1 to 2 days and if they are covered back up, that means they are active. Dig new holes 1 to 3 feet on both sides of the original hole and place 1 Talpirid Mole Bait worm in each new hole. Be sure the bait is all the way in the hole inside the tunnel. Cover the hole with dirt.
- Step 3: Check the holes for plugs to be sure the moles ate the bait. Moles will most likely die in the tunnel and decompose underground within 48 hours.
- Step 4: To finish up, stomp down the runs and collect the lawn markers.
Where to Use
Talpirid Mole Bait is to be applied inside mole tunnels only. The bait can be used to kill moles on golf courses, residential lawns, ornamental gardens, parks, and more. Do not leave mole bait in areas where it can be obtained by pets or innocent wildlife. Do not apply mole bait above ground.
When to Use
Talpirid Mole Bait can be used when active mole tunnels have been confirmed on residential, agricultural or commercial landscapes.
Safety Information
Talpirid Mole Bait is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment when applying Talpirid Mole Bait.
Special Considerations
One Talpirid Mole Bait worm is enough to kill at least 1 mole. Each box comes with 20 worms.
If temperatures are high, it may get hot enough that the worm bait may melt. if this happens, simply get a bowl with ice-cold water and put the tray that they come in a plastic bag to mold them back into their original shape. You could also try to briefly place the bait in a freezer to harden the bait again.

Q:Will this product kill gophers?4/25/18A:No, this product is targeting moles and has attractants for moles. If the gopher feeds on it it would die but they would not be attracted to the worms

Q:What is the difference between 7150 and 1052 mole bait by bell and howell?3/11/18A:Never used anything but talpirid because it works! Drop a worm in a tunnel and the mole stops moving

Q:What time of year can I use talprid?1/24/18A:Any time of year. Best to use it as soon as you see activity. This is the only thing that has ever worked for me. Don't bother with the stuff you see in stores.

Q:How many worm do you place in hole?1/5/18A:You will want to place one worm of Talpirid in the active runs that are located. MAIN UNDERGROUND TUNNELS AND CONICAL MOUNDS: Moles construct deeper tunnels that are not visible from the surface. These deep tunnels systems are often marked by a series of conical mounds (piles of dirt) 4 to 12 inches high formed when dirt is pushed to the surface when moles construct these tunnels. To locate deep tunnels, push a probe, such as a broom handle, into the soil between mounds. When the probe enters a tunnel, the resistance on the probe will decrease rapidly. Mark opened tunnels and revisit them 48 to 72 hours later. Runways that have had holes resealed within 72 hours should be baited. To bait deep tunnels, drop one TALPIRID worm through the probe hole, using the probe to push the bait completely into the tunnel. Cover the hole with a piece of sod, a small rock or a piece of newspaper to allow for visual inspection. Repeat bait application every 5 to 10 feet of each active deep tunnel and within 5 feet of each active conical mound. Check for the effects of treatment 5 to 7 days after bait application using the same procedure for determining tunnel location. Return 48 to 72 hours later and retreat all active tunnel systems.

Q:Harmful to pets?10/24/17A:I'm not an expert but I will say since the talparid worms are buried in the tunnel, approx. 1" below ground level the pet would have to dig up the worms. Plus the Talparid worms mimic earth worms. I have never heard of pets digging up the lawn to eat earthworms. I have an outdoor dog & I have used approx. 80-100 worms each year for the last 7-8 years with no issues. I have a horrible mole problem but Talparid absolutely works. The tunnels become inactive within 24 hours after an application without fail. Hope this helps.

Q:My Talpirid worms have melted what do I need to do? Will they still work?6/6/17A:The worms will still be good to use. They have a low melting point and will start to melt when temperatures reach 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Once they have melted you can guide the liquid back into the tray and place in a cooler with ice. This will allow the worms to go back into the jello like state they were before.

Q:where can I find the expiration date on the label of the Talpirid box?4/23/17A:Hi Bosco, the manufacture date should be inkjetted on the box somewhere. They do not have an expiration date as pesticides will not expire if kept in a cool dry area.
