Bifen XTS
Bifen XTS
Bifen XTS is a professional-grade concentrated termiticide and insecticide that kills termites plus over 70 different types of insects quickly. This versatile product can leave a residual barrier that lasts up to 90 days.
Bifen XTS, manufactured by Control Solutions, is a bifenthrin emulsifiable concentrate insecticide designed to control termites and insects. This product kills insects quickly, leaving a residual barrier for up to 90 days.
This easy-to-use insecticide can be used by DIY homeowners to reach cracks and crevices and to treat smaller areas. Professionals can also benefit from using Bifen XTS via a skid sprayer to cover large areas, or as a trench treatment for killing termites.
Bifen XTS kills many insects and can be sprayed in most outdoor areas, even on trees. It is a great versatile product when treating wood or lawn-destroying pests.
Tools Needed
To spray Bifen XTS, a backpack sprayer, a hose-end sprayer, a hand-held pump sprayer, or a skid sprayer is needed. When using Bifen XTS as a perimeter trenching treatment, a shovel or trenching hoe and a wheelbarrow or bucket are needed. A drill, masonry bit, and rods are required for other treatment methods, such as rodding or sub-slab injections.
We recommend using the backpack or hand-held pump sprayer for cracks and crevice treatments. When large volumes need to be treated, we suggest a skid sprayer.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Bifen XTS Insecticide you will need by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet, then multiply (length X width = square footage). For acreage, divide the square footage by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acre). For subterranean termite control, localized areas in structures against wood-infesting insects, and perimeter treatment against other pests, use a 0.06% dilution. For broadcast lawn treatments, use 0.07 to 0.30 fl. oz. of Bifen XTS per 2 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. For ornamentals and trees, dilute 0.26 to 1.28 fl. oz. of Bifen XTS per 10 gallons of water and apply at the rate of 10 gallons per 4,356 square feet. One gallon of finish spray will treat 435 sq. ft.
- Step 2: In a sprayer, add half of the required amount of water, then the amount needed for Bifen XTS, and pour the remaining half of the water into the spray tank. Close the lid and shake until the solution is evenly mixed. Add the rest of the required amount of water to the spray tank and agitate to mix well.
- Step 3: Apply the mixed solution of Bifen XTS to the top and bottom of grass and ornamental leaves until wet, but not to the point of runoff. Water in treated areas with 0.25 to 0.5 inches of water immediately following application, taking special care to prevent run-off. To perform a perimeter treatment, spray 3 feet up the structure and a 10-foot wide band out on the soil and vegetation around and next to the structure. Re-apply as needed quarterly for continued control. For trenching, treat the soil with 4 gallons of diluted solution per 10 linear feet per foot of depth of the trench or 1 gallon per 1.0 cubic feet, and then place the dirt back over the trench after the solution has been soaked in.
Where to Use
When used against termites, apply Bifen XTS to critical areas where points in the foundation are penetrated, such as bath traps, plumbing, cracks and expansion joints, utility entry points, and adjacent structures such as patios, slab additions, stairs, inside of foundation walls, and other features that will penetrate the slab. It may also be used for post-construction treatment against termites to foundations, slabs, basements, accessible or inaccessible crawl spaces, masonry voids, and troublesome areas (e.g., beside fieldstone or rubble walls, beside faulty foundation walls, and around pipes and utility lines leading downward from the structure to a well or pond).
This product may also be applied to underground services (cables, conduits, pipes, utility lines, wires, etc.), rights-of-way, inside structures, or to guard miles of service installations. It can also be used as an insecticidal barrier around or in posts, poles, trees, and wooden constructions (signs, fences, and landscape ornamentation).
Bifen XTS can also be sprayed on trees, shrubs, foliage plants, non-bearing fruit, and nut trees, and flowers in interiorscapes, including hotels, shopping malls, office buildings, and outdoor plantscapes, including around residential dwellings, parks, institutional, recreational, athletic fields, and home lawns.
Other than applications to building foundations, all outdoor applications to impervious surfaces such as sidewalks, driveways, patios, porches, and structural surfaces (such as windows, doors, and eaves) are limited to spot and crack and crevice applications only.
Do not use this product in greenhouses or nurseries. It cannot be used in food areas of food handling establishments, restaurants, or other areas where food is commercially prepared or processed. Do not use it in serving areas while food is exposed or the facility is in operation.
When to Use
Bifen XTS should be used to control termites before construction; however, it can also be used to treat soil around the perimeter of homes or building structures after termites are detected. It should also be applied when observing other insect activity or as a preventative treatment against labeled pests.
This product must be applied in calm weather when rain is not predicted for the next 24 hours to help ensure that wind or rain does not blow or wash the pesticide off the treatment area.
Do not apply Bifen XTS when the ground is saturated or frozen. Do not make applications when it rains.
Safety Information
Bifen XTS is safe to use around pets and children when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Keep children and pets off the treated areas following application until the spray has dried.
Special Considerations
When treating behind veneer structures with Bifen XTS, take proper care not to drill beyond the veneer. Both can be drilled and treated simultaneously if concrete blocks exist behind the veneer. Not for use in voids insulated with rigid foam insulation.
When treating plenums and crawl spaces, turn off the structure's air circulation systems until the application has been completed and the soil has absorbed all termiticide.

Q:Can you add any additives into my 1gal./1/2oz. Premix pump 3gal. sprayer that will make Bifen XTS turn into spray foam as it is sprayed out of my pump sprayer. Or can BiFen XTS be added to any other spray foam product that achieves the same outcome for me??8/30/23A:not tried to make the Bifren XTS become a foam because it performs perfectly for me just the way it is formulated.

Q:I have been using Bifen IT in an attemp to control millipedes outside around our house and pool with slightly over 50% kill rate. Would Bifen XTS be a more effective product for me?8/11/23A:Depends on your preference, but either product will work fine to controlling millipedes. However, to further control millipede we recommend making broadcast applications with a granule like Bifen LP Granules then watering it in with an insecticide for full control. Q:I have been using XTS for two years to control sod web worms in my Florida lawn, works great. But, I have noticed during our excessive rainy and humid times that the worms will become active within a week of spraying...is it ok to use again so soon? The 14 day period is too long here to wait, they can really damage my lawn. Thanks for your help.9/3/22A:Bifen XTS cannot be reapplied until 3 months have passed after application. However for best control of sod webworms, postpone watering or mowing for 24 hours following application. Once 24 hours have passed, water the product in with 0.25 inches of water. To control sod webworms, we recommend using Bifen LP and Bifen XTS or Supreme IT. Applications of Bifen LP will provide sub-surface control of sod webworms and applications with either Bifen XTS or Supreme IT will control sod webworms on the surface of turf. For more information above controlling and preventing sod webworms, check out our DIY guide. https://www.solutionsstores.com/sod-webworm-control
